Final Fantasy 16: How To Beat Ramuh's Trial
Learn to sling thunderbolts with grace and ease.
You'll rely heavily on the Titanic Block ability to Parry enemy attacks and strike while the enemy is off balance. Titan's other abilities force you to play more aggressively and get into an enemy's face to maximize effectiveness. You need to be as imposing as Titan himself if you want to clear this trial before time's up.
General Trial Tips
Titanic Block is a great tool for defeating enemies and gaining additional time through Battle Technique Bonuses.
To receive the bonus, you have to perform a Precision Block, which is done by blocking as an attack is about to connect.
Always launch a counterattack right after a successful Precision Block to get another time bonus for Titanic Counters.
To get the most out of your Upheaval and Windup abilities, charge the ability until it reaches the red portion of the gauge. Doing this ensures your attacks are at their strongest and grants a time bonus.
The Raging Counter is one of the most difficult Battle Technique Bonuses to get during this trial. When using Raging Fists, there's a brief moment where one of Titan's hands is raised in a blocking stance. An attack must connect during this brief window to trigger a Raging Counter and reward you the time bonus.
Location Of Titan Chronolith
To get to Titan's trial, travel to The Velkroy Desert Obelisk in the Dhalmekian Republic. From here, travel across the northern region of the map through The Northern Velkroy Desert.
Along the right side of the desert, you'll find a path leading straight to the Chronolith.
Titan's Trial Guide
Getting through Titan's Trial means clearing three stages with a boss after the third stage. The mini-bosses present in each stage are perfect candidates for using Precision Blocks and Raging Counters.
Use Titanic Bloc💛k🐓 frequently throughout the trial to wipe out the small fry and knock out the bigger targets.
Stage 1
Abilities |
Upheaval, Raging Fists |
1-1 |
5x Earthbound Hunters |
1-2 |
2x Earthbound Wolf 3x Earthbound Revenants |
1-3 |
1x Earthbound Gigas |
You can easily clear the first wave of enemies and gain a time bonus with a perfectly charged Upheaval. Lunge into the group of Hunters and use Upheaval while the enemies are still grouped together.
This second wave of enemies is also fairly weak but provides a great opportunity for attaining more time bonuses. Use this time to practice Precision Blocking and Raging Counters.
Hold off on using Raging Fists this wave and opt for counters and regular attacks instead.
Gigas utilizes a variety of strong but slow attacks that are easy to Precision Block and evade. Try to go for a Raging Counter this round; if it fails, you'll still do plenty of damage.
If Precision Blocks keep failing and your abilities are on cooldown, rely on Limit Break to end this fight quickly.
Stage 2
Abilities |
Upheaval, Windup |
2-1 |
1x Earthbound Adamantoise 4x Earthbound Widow |
2-2 |
2x Earthbound Wraiths 3x Earthbound Lieutenant |
2-3 |
1x Earthbound Marshal 3x Earthbound Bombs |
Use Upheaval immediately to wipe out the Widows and even the odds. The Adamantoise is a strong and slow foe, just like Gigas, that makes Precision Blocks easy to perform.
Windup isn't very effective against this turtle, so use Limit Break to finish the job if blocks aren't cutting it.
Another Upheaval can decimate this wave of enemies as well; use it if the cooldown is over.
If Upheaval isn't ready, regular attacks will work just fine to clear these opponents. You'll receive a time bonus for a Punish attack that results in a Mortal Blow.
In the final wave, destroy the Bombs with any of your abilities before fighting the Marshal. The Marshal's attacks are faster and more difficult to Precision Block; opt for dodging instead.
Use your Limit Break here to wrap things up and move on to the fiꦆnal stage.
Stage 3
Abilities |
Earthen Fury, Windup |
3-1 |
1x Earthbound Panther 4x Earthbound Mugger |
3-2 |
2x Earthbound Scepter 3x Earthbound Orc |
3-3 |
1x Earthbound Fool 1x Earthbound Tognvaldr |
Earthen Fury is one of Titan's strongest abilities, use this power to kill all the Muggers and gain a time bonus.
The Panther uses multiple attacks with its claws that you can Precision Block for some time bonuses. If the feral feline gives you too much trouble, don't hesitate to strike back with Windup.
For the second wave, focus on scoring multiple time bonuses before moving on to the next wave. This will be your only time to get a time bonus for Punish attacks♍ during this waveꩲ. Hold onto Earthen Fury for the final wave.
The Fool is another Flan enemy and should be eliminated first because of their magical abilities. It's easiest to block the Fool's physical attacks and dodge their magic.
Use Earthen Fury if the Tognvaldr keeps pestering you during your battle with the Flan.
After giving the Flan their just desserts, unleash Limit Break and take down the Tognvaldr. Limit Break allows you to effortlessly parry Tognvaldr's attacks and create openings for using abilities.
Final Boss - Earthbound Giant
Final Boss |
Earthbound Giant |
Abilities |
Earthen Fury, Raging Fists |
Earthen Fury will chip away a good portion of the Giant's health at the start of the fight. After that, Precision Blocks and Raging Counters are vital for defeating the Giant before time runs out.
A few of the Giant's attacks are telegraphed by yellow sparks that appear on the Giant's foot and shield.
The Giant's sword-swinging attacks can shatter your guard if you fail to Precision Block. Evade sword attacks and block or counter any moves foreshadowed by yellow sparks.
Use your Limit Break if you struggle with the timing for blocks and counters; use the easier Parrying provided from Limit Break as a substitute for Precision Blocking.
If you've had no problem blocking and countering, then use your Limit Break on the Giant once they are staggered.
