Drake's Breath is the second of the Mothercrystals that you'll seek to take down in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Final Fantasy 16. Along with Jill (and your trusty pal Torgal, of course), you'll travel to the islands to the west during the quest Fire and Ice. This is a climactic mission for Jill especially, as she has her own score to settle here.
You'll begin this stage on the shore and eventually make your way through dangerous gardens and a live volcano before reaching your goal. It's an arduous journey, but it's worth it in the eyes of our protagonists. Read on for the full rundown.
Making Your Way To Drake's Breath
As with all other stages in the game, you'll start this quest in a safe zone with only one path to traverse. Take the linear path up the side of the cliff, and you'll eventually reach a gate. Head through, and you'll encounter your first combat.
Akashic Thorns and Akashic Hornets are more of what you're used to, but stronger. You should be able to take them out without any fuss. Continue on ahead, fighting the Akashic Worgen on the path upward.
Behind the next gate, you'll face some more Akashic Worgen and a single Akashic Minotaur. You can safely ignore the Worgen; Jill will take care of them -ꦺ you can just focus on the Minotaur.
If you need a refresher on taking ඣdown Minotaurs, chec𓃲k out the guide to Kingsfall by clicking here!
After defeating the Minotaur, head up the stairs ahead. There's a chest over to the left here; open it to get The Breath of Wind (Aerial Blast). This accessory reduces the cooldown for Aerial Blast by a whole 11 seconds, so if you regularly use this skill for crowd control and Staggering, it may be worth considering.
Open the gate ahead of you to take on the first boss of this stage.
How To Beat The Akashic Morbol
The Akashic Morbol is a very similar fight to the Morbol you fought all th🍌e way back in the Prologue alongside Wade and Tyler, but is appropriately tougher. It has a lot of the same moves but some new additions and some changes.
As for the s🐻pecific things to be on the lookout for in this fight:
- With the smaller arena (comparatively), you'll need to be more careful when the Morbol spits out puddles of goop. Standing in the goop will cause you to take constant damage.
- The attack where the Morbol makes its vines sprout up across the whole battlefield is very dangerous, as it's difficult to get Precision Dodges from their erratic attacks. Stay on the lookout for their movements and be ready to react. It may be worth constantly dodging when this attack comes out just to stay safe.
- Watch out for the point in the battle where the Morbol dives underground. When it re-emerges, it'll start using tougher attacks, such as Acid Rain, so be careful.
For beating this boss, you'll obtain the following rewards:
Experience |
180 |
Ability Points |
120 |
Gil |
2,000 |
Spoils |
Magicked Ash x18, Meteorite x2 |
Inside The Volcano
After beating the Akashic Morbol, you'll be inside the volcano that is Drake's Breath. Make your way forward, and you'll eventually encounter a pack of Scarlet Scorpions. They'll be easy to beat as long as you avoid their venomous stingers.
After defeating the initial pack of Scarlet Scorpions, you have two possible ways forward - either straight ahead or to the left and up a tall cliff that Clive can climb. Either way will take you to your eventual destination, and both involve a fight against Scarlet Scorpions and Dragonets. However, the left-hand path will let you skip an encounter with a Salamander if you're stealthy.
If you decide to fight the Salamander, be aware that, unlike the Dragon Aevises that you've fought so far, this one is far more agile and aggressive. On the bright side, this m𒊎akesꦅ it easy to chain Precision Counters against it.
Before progressing to the next area underneath the half-lowered gate, open the chest to the right to get some Steelsilk and some Bloody Hides.
Progress to the next area and press on. After the cutscene with Jill making an icy path, you'll soon encounter an encounter with Scarlet Scorpions and Bombs. Take these out and then head down the path to the right. You'll drop down a steep cliff and eventually be confronted by a Red Mousse.
How To Beat The Red Mousse
The Red Mousse might very well be the first flan-type enemy you face, so we've provided some information about their moves below.
Attack |
Description |
Smash |
The flan will create two long arms and then sm♏ash them down in your directꦗion. This attack has some obvious windup, so it's easy to dodge once you're used to the timing. |
Spinning Smash |
The flan creat⭕es four long arms and the▨n uses them to perform a whirlwind-style attack. The radius of this attack is quite large, so don't underestimate it. Dodge away from this attack, and then dash back in to take advantage of the cooldown period. |
Leaping Smash |
The flan leaps at you and smashes the ground. The flan uses this mostly as a gap closer, so it's not too threatening. You can get an easy Precision Counter from this though. |
Firaga |
The flan creates a very large fireball above it and then throws it at you. 💝The ball explodes in a very large radius when it hits the ground. Try to dodge the fireball as it lands on you, as it's dangerous to try to avoid it at any other moment. |
Other flan-type enemies will have different and more spells to use, so don't rely on the table above when facing other flans!
As long as you get the timing for avoiding Firaga down, you'll have a pretty easy time defeating the Red Mousse.
After beating the Red Mousse, open the chest in the area to get some Mythril Wristlets. If these are better than what you have equipped already, go ahea💎d and equip them.
Hop over the stone to the large arena ahead to face the second boss of the stage.
How To Beat The Flame Lizard
The Fire Lizard is quite similar to Fafnir, who you fought all the way back in the Greatwood. For a complete guide on how to beat💫 the Fire Lizard, click here.
How To Reach Drake's Breath
After beating the Fire Lizard, jump up to the higher platform over to the left and climb the ladder there. Enter the door 🌺at the top and watch♏ the cutscenes that play out.
After the cutscenes, you'll be in a new area. Head forward through the linear path and then down the stairs. Defeat the Ironblood Crusaders down here and then head to the next door✅ to open.
The next encounter you face will be against an elite-type enemy, a huge soldier wielding a massive axe, the Ironblood Fanatic. Be wary when fighting him, as you don't want to take too many hits before coming up against the final boss of this stage.
After eliminating these enemies, head to the end of the corridor and take the doorway to the right to continue on. Press on through this linear section, defeating the soldiers as you go - take a quick detour to the right of the next door you have to open to find a chest that contains 1,200 gil.
Eventually, you'll face another group of enemies that includes another Ironblood Fanatic. Continue on from this pack to the large gate before the Mothercrystal. Open the chest next to the gate to get The Grace of the Inferno (Will-o'-the-Wykes), which increases that ability's duration by five seconds.
Head through the gate, and you'll face the final boss of the stage, Liquid Flame.
