Most of the fights in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Final Fantasy 16 are quite fair. Enemies, even the big ones, usually have bursts of aggression followed by small breaks that allow you to get some easy damage in, and their attacks are usually easy to predict once you've dealt with them a few times.
The Dread Comet, however, is no regular enemy. This special chocobo is the subject of a particular hunt, and it's a doozy to take down. You'd better be ready to suffer some meteor-based action if you want to come out on top of this clash. Let's dive in.
How To Beat Dread Comet
Once you've unlocked the Dread Comet hunt, you'll find this bird in the Dhalmekia region.
Specifically, you'll find it in the small area between two hills that separate The Sickle from the Fields of Corava. The closest Obelisk will be the one at the Jaw to the south.
The first thing you'll notice about this enemy, apart from its glorious plumage, is that it's a chocobo. This means that you aren't able to Stagger it - it ha🌳s no Stagger gauge! This provides some specific challenges in the inability to give it a partial Stagger or get some br𝄹eathing room with a full Stagger. Despite this, it still has a ton of health to deal with, unlike other Hunts without Stagger gauges.
In that case, the only way forward is to learn how to deal with the chocobo's attacks.
Attack |
Description |
Flying Kick |
The chocobo leapඣs at you, making kicking attacks in midair. When you see the chocobo making a leap toward you, dodge to the side. This attack doesn't have great midair tracking. |
Peck |
The chocobo makes a peckiꦜng attack in your direction. This is a ༺very close-range attack, so yo♐u should be able to stay relatively safe by moving back just a little bit. You can get some easy damage in on the side or back of the chocobo during this time. |
Choco Burst |
The chocobo lets out a large 🧸wark and pushes you away. This deals no damage but will give it time to use one 🍸of the attacks below. |
Choco Meteor |
The chocobo summons a meteor to hit the ground. This is indicated by a flare on the ground, which will soon be struck🐼. The meteor emits a large shockwave upon impact. Later in the battle, this will summon three meteors in ♑succession, each with its own s🎃hockwave. As with all other shockwave attacks in the game, you can simply leap over the shockwaves. Do make sure that you're staying out of the impact zones, too, though! |
Choco Meteorain |
This is just an upgraded version of Choco Met🌄eor and summons many meteors in💮 quick succession. You will have 🍃to avoid multiple shockwaves in a row, which may make things tricky - especially as the Dread Comet can start attacking you normally towards the end of the attack and may even overlap it with a normal Choco Meteor cast𝔍. |
The main threats here are the two Choco Meteor attacks - these can be difficult to dodge and will deal a frankly massive amount of damage if you get hit by them. For this reason, it's a good idea to have a full stock of Potions and High Potions when taking this hunt on.
The Dread Comet will only use Choco Meteor, to begin with, and then upgrade to the Choco Meteor that summons three meteors in succession after taking some damage.
Once you have it below half health, however, it will start using Choco Meteorain. This is when you'll need to be extra careful.
Since the Dread Comet is an enemy without a Stagger gauge, you may wish to rethink your ability loadout before attacking it. You generally will not need attacks that deal lots of Stagger damage, but you will need attacks that inflict lots of regular damage. Consider swapping out your Stagger-focused attacks for more offensive attacks.
That said, Bahamut's Impulse is still a great skill to have. Thanks to the many hits in inflicts in very quick succession, it's actually fantastic at keeping the Dread Comet stunlocked throughout its duration.
This doesn't work all that well during Choco Meteorain, as it cannot be stunned out of the attack, but it's useful at other times.
If you're struggling a lot with the constant meteors, it may be a good idea to simply stop trying to attack at all during these attacks and focus entirely on your positioning and dodging. There will always be gaps between individual casts of the meteor-summoning attacks, and the Dread Comet's physical attacks are far easier to dodge and retaliate to.
