With all of Square Enix's focus on 's launch later this month, it's been a dry spell for those of us waiting for news on the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy. Rebirth was announced this time last year and p𓆏romised a release date in⛄ 2023, something that seemed incredibly unlikely considering that's the last time we heard♛ anything abo🌠ut it.
Don't get your hopes up too much, but it looks like Square Enix is at least pretty confident about the current state of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. , the official account randomly tweeted a statement from Rebirth's producer, Yoshinori Kitase, titled, "Developer comment 1". In the 🎀statement, Kitase gives a brief update on the game's development and notes that a release date is still being figur💧ed out.
After being asked how development on Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is🎉 going, Kitase said, "Development is progressing smoothly and according to plan. We are currently working on nailing down a release date for the game". The "developer comment 1" caption attached to the quote suggests that we m🍸ight get even more information on Rebirth later today, although as of the time of writing it's just one comment.
Although Kitase's message is rather short, what he's saying seems like a good sign that Rebirth might make its release window after all. Kitase saying that development is progressing "according to plan" suggests that it won't see any delays if the plan is still Winter 2023♔. Square Enix looking to set a release date for the game is another good sign, as it suggests that Rebirth is nearing the end of its development.
It's not clear what prompted Square Enix to randomly give an update on Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, but it has nearly been a year since the game was announced for a release in 2023, so it's definitely overdue and especially appreciated when Square is within its rights to be focusing solely on Final Fantasy 16. Fans of the series were hoping to see Rebirth♒ at the most recent PlayStation Showcase but it, and many other games, didn't end up making an appearance, which could be what caused this response.
