Ragtime Mouse Sidequest

The Ragtime Mouse is a beloved little side character who randomly appears in certain forests. He doesn't really resemble a mouse and his theme isn't really Ragtime, but he enjoys a good quiz. All you have to do is answer his questions correctly to get prizes ranging from Gil to, of course, the Protect Ring.

Appearance Location & Frequency

The Ragtime Mouse appears after 20 seconds have passed on the World Map and can only appear a specific number of times correlating to how far you are in the game. It can appear 4 times before getting the Outer Continent, 10+ times before getting to the Hilda Garde III, or any number of times after getting the Hilda Garde III.

Mechanics

His questions are always True or False questions with O being True and X being False. Simply attack one to select your answer. If you don't select in time or you attack the Ragtime Mouse, he will flee.

15. Garland discusses the Crystal and the beginning of the Cycle
16. The party goes into the Crystal World
17. You battle against the terrifying Deathguise

Visit the Tantalus Troupe hideout in Lindblum any time between these events to trigger a Nero Family cutscene. After meeting the final member, Penera, you'll obtain the Protect Ring.

Mognet Central Sidequest

The Mognet Central sidequest is a fun and silly one with lots of intrigue along with the adorable Moogles. It all starts in Alexandria when Vivi talks to the Moogles at the bell tower. Kupo and Stiltzskin help initiate the quest by asking Vivi to deliver letters.

How To Find Mognet Central

1. Talk to Mogrika at Esto Gaza while chasing Kuja. She will tell you that Mognet Central is shutting down thanks to Artemicion's vanity.
2. Then, access the mountain crack on an island in the upper right corner of the map as seen above.
3. Give Choco a Dead Pepper to help him open up a pathway
4. You now have access to Mognet Central

Talk to a𝓀ll of the Moogles found at Mognet Cent෴ral to progress the quest.

How To Find Superslick

Artemicion finally fesses up to using too much of the product that helps the Moogle mail delivery system work. Though the next step is to talk to Kupo in Alexandria, Kupo will not initiate the next part of the quest until the player has neared the endgame s🎐ection.

However, Kupo's actions being a letter chain that leads the player to Ruby who gives her their hair gel known as "Superslick". Simply take this back to Artemicion and Mognet Central will be back in business. What's more: you'll have a Protect Ring.

Dead Pepper Chocobo Search

Remember Dead Pepper -- the thing we just talked about? It's useful for finding a ton of loot and Gil in FF9, but also for sidequests.
