Red XIII was one of the most memorable characters in Final Fantasy VII, yet the limited nature of the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake means that he won't have much of a ro🙈le in the story.
The footage of Final Fantasy VII Remake that has been released so far has shown off four of the playable characters - Cloud, Aerith, Barret, and Tifa. Final Fantasy VII Remake only covers the Midgar section of the story, so Yuffie, Vincent, and Cid likely won't be making a playable appearance in the game. Red XIII should have a playable appearance in Final Fantasy VII, but he wo🧸n't be appearing for long unless the creators of the game turn to different parts of the series.
Red XIII Will Only Have A Brief Appearance In Final Fantasy VII Remake
Final Fantasy VII Remake only covers a small part of the original game, as it's an expanded retelling of the Midgar section of Final Fantasy VII. If Final Fantasy VII Remake follows the story of the original, then Red XIII will on𒀰ly be playable for a short portion of the game. Red XIII joins the party during AVALANCHE's infiltration of the Shinra Headquarters. O💜nce the party escapes from the building, they flee from Midgar and head out onto the world map.
Red XIII is imprisoned in Hojo's laboratory throughout the early portions of Final Fantasy VII, so it would be difficult to have him join the party at an earlier point in the game without reworking a lot of the story. If Squar🍸e Enix keeps to the story of the original game, then Red XIII will only be playable in the final dungeon.
If Square Enix wanted to give Red XIII a prominent role in Final Fantasy VII Remake, then they could use elements from his backstory that were shown in spin-off games, or use content that was planned for Final Fantasy VII, but scrapped from the final product.
Red XIII's Backstory From The Compilation Could Be Shown
One of the most confusing aspects of the ending of Final Fantasy VII 🦋was that Red XIII had children, even though it was said in the storyꦬ that he was the last member of his species.
There was a Final Fantasy VII spin-off title for mobile phones in Japan called Before Crisis -Final Fantasy- that starred the Turks. Before Crisis explained how Red XIII was able to procreate, as a female of his species was still alive, but had gone into hiding. The reason Red XIII was captured by Shinra agen෴ts was that he was protecting the last known female of his species.
There is a moment when all of the characters are captured and imprisoned within the Shinra Headquarters, which would be the perfect time for a flashback sequence showing the Red XIII mission from Before Crisis, but from his perspective instead of the Turks.
Final Fantasy VII Remake could also explain what hap♉pened to Red XIII's eye, which is suggested to have been wounded by Hojo during one of his experiments.
Cut Content From Final Fantasy VII Could Also Make An Appearance
Another way in which Red XIII's storyline can be expanded is by including content that was planned for Final Fantasy VII but didn't make it into the game.
The extent of the experiments performed on Red XIII was never revealed in Final Fantasy VII, but the player was once meant to encounter the fruits of Hojo's research. According to the Final Fantasy VII Ultimania Omega, it was planned for Hojo to have created two clones of Red XIII, named Cobalt XIV and Indigo XV, who would have attacked the party throughout th🐬e game in order to prove that they are stronger the origin🌊al.
The fact that Final Fantasy VII Remake is expanding the story of the original game means that Cobalt XIV and Indigo XV could be added in order to give Red XIII more to do during his brief appearance in the story, as well as give him recurring f♛oes in🀅 the sequels.
Final Fantasy VII Remake will 💃be available for PlayStation 4 on March 3, 2020.
