The story mode bosses in  can be really challengingꦫ, which is why The Gamer has created this helpful guide for taking down e𒁃ach of the most challenging enemies in the game.

Guard Scorpion

Final Fantasy VII Remake, Cloud and Barret face off against the Guard Scorpion.

The Guard Scorpion battle is iden🐲tical t👍o the one from the demo. The Guard Scorpion is incredibly agile and it's weak to lightning, so switch to Barret to pile on the damage and stagger it. When the Guard Scorpion uses its barrier, it will become immune to lightning damage. In order to bring down the barrier, the player will need to aim for the field generator at its back. Once the Guard Scorpion is crippled, aim for its legs to bring it down.

Roche

You don't have to worry about healing, as Roche pulls a Rubicante from Final Fantasy IV and heals Cloud before the fight. Roche can use both melee attacks and spells. He is weak to fire, but the easiest way to staggerꦑ him is by switching to Punisher mode and counterattacking his physical blows. Blocking Roche's attacks in Operator mode will also leave him defenseless for a few seconds.

Crab Warden

Final Fantasy VII Remake Crab Warden

The Crab Warden is weak to lightning magic. Attacking its body parts (like its legs) will quickly fill up the stagger meter. Once it has taken enough damage, it will connect to the railway tracks and summon some drones, which the player needs to deal with straight away. Once it has taken enough damage it will bring out its missile launchers and electrify the floor. Keep an eye on the ground and move to safe areas to avoid being shocked. When the pilot becomes exposed, hit it to expose the generator aꦆnd keep striking that until the battle ends.

Airbuster

Airbuster Final Fantasy VII Remake

The Airbuster can be weakened if the player searches for keycards in the previo♔us area. It's weak to lightning attacks. During phase one of the battle, make sure to keep avoiding its laser and switch to the other characters to change its focus. During the second phase, destroy one of its detached hands as soon as possible. Once it flies off the edge, switch to Barret and wail on it from aware. When it moves close, switch to Cloud & Tifa. It really helps to link Lightning & Elemental Materia and give it to Barret for this battle.

Reno

final fantasy 7 remake characters reno 7

Take out the guards as soon as possible. Magic and lightning have little effect on Reno's stagger gauge, so focus on ﷽physical attacks. Like Roche, Reno is susceptible to Punisher mode counters. Dodge his lightning attacks, as they can leave Cloud stunned for a few seconds. When Reno throws out his EMP mines, destroy them as soon as possible before returning to Reno.

Rude

final fantasy 7 remake characters rude 9

Make sure to enter this battle with Wind Materia, as Aero spells will fill Rude's stagger gauge up extremely quickly. Use Aerith's Pray ability to keep the team alive. The Punisher mode cou🎃nters are useful against his regular attacks, but Rude's grappling special moves can bypass them, so don't rely on them for the whole battle.

Hell House

Hell House Final Fantasy VII Remake

Hell House is easily the hardest boss in the game up to this point, so don't be afraid to use elixirs or yo🐲ur best items if you need themဣ. The player absolutely needs to enter the battle with a Fire, Ice, Lightning, and Wind Materia equipped across Aerith and Cloud. Hell House has a barrier switch ability and the player needs to hit the barrier with the opposing spell to fill the stagger gauge.

When Hell House uses its God Houseꦍ Mode, the stagger gauge won't fill up as much, but it will fill up a lot more during the brief period after the mode endsౠ, so just play defensively until it drops its guard. If it grabs a party member, switch to the other character to heal as soon as possible.

Abzu 1

Abzu Final Fantasy VII Remake

Abzu is weak to fire magic, but this won't affect its stagger gauge much. Abzu has a lot of magical/AoE attacks that can bypass Cloud's Punisher mode, so don't rely on it. It's possible ꦫto shatter Abzu's horns, but it can be tricky to hit these now that Barret isn't in the party. Just pile on the damage and make sure to keep the party's health up in case it uses Blackwa𝓀ter Blast, as this has a huge AoE and deals a ton of damage.

Ghoul

Ghoul Final Fantasy VII Remake

Ghoul 🅰hides behind the furniture in the room, which it can move with telekinesis. It's weak to fire magic. Ghoul has a physical form and a ghostly form. It only takes stagger damage✃ when physical attacks are used on the ghostly form and magic on the physical form.

Eligor

Eligor prepares to strike while soaring around a room

Eligor is weak against Ice magic, so Shiva is the top choice for a Summon (assuming the players have it). If Eligor is about to charge, switch to Cloud and his Punܫisher mode to counter it. When Eligor starts flying, switch to Aerith and use her basic attacks to deal damage and save Cloud & Tifa for items and spells. Once the battle enters its final phase, aim for the chariot wheels to stagger Eligor and leave it vulnerable to damage.
