This year celebrates ten years of . It gets a lot of flack for being the worst mainline game in the series and whether that is true, or not is obviously a matter of opinion. Instead of t💮alking about the many issues and controversies lets instead look back at its development.
What are some secrets that one never knew? How did it begin and why was there so many spinoffs? When one thinks about it since this was announced in 2006, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Final Fantasy has been lost in a Final Fantasy XIII void for almost two decades now. What does that mean? Read o𝄹n to find out more.
10 Started On PS2
Development for Final Fantasy XIII started as far back as the PS2. Using the engine from Final Fantasy X-2’s development, a separate team mocked up as⛄sets to try out certain aspects of ♐the game.
That can be seen in the blurry screenshots above. While the work was eventually moved to the PS3, the core concept was kept the sane ev🔯en though none of the PS2’s work could be carried over.
9 Character Changes
There were a few character changes that happened during development. At some point Vanille almost became the protagonist over Lightning. Vanille’s partner, Fang, was going to be a man. The only reasonꦦ her gender was changed was because the seventh member of the team, Serah, was cut loose. To even out the genders Fang then was made into a girl. Serah’s role was obviously then retooled. However, she did b🌠ecome playable in the sequel as the star no less.
8 Threequel-itis
Speaking of Serah’s game, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy XIII as a whole is the only game in the series with two direct sequels. Yes, Final Fantasy VII has canon titles like Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus, but they are more like spinoffs compared to how integral Final Fantasy XIII’s sequels were. Instead of creating DLC, the team decided to reuse assets to capitalize on the development costs made o﷽n this game, which took longer than most entries in the series. It was essentially done to recoup costs along with telling more stories.
7 🌠 ꦅ Seventh Ark
The Seventh Ark is a cut area in th♍e game. It was meant to be an extra dungeon for various side missions. It is still plausible to access it via save hacks. Much of the dungeon is actually done at least in the planning♛ stages. Not everything, including monsters, is programmed into it though. Based on what players have found it appears to be more done than not. Why it was canceled is anyone's guess.
6 ℱ Fabula Nova Crystallis
When it was announced in 2006, Final Fantasy XIII was also going to be apart of a larger compilation called Fabula Nova Crystallis. Wh♔ile game was going to be it🀅s own thing they were going to be apart of a unifying universe.
Several titles were planned, but eventually the scope was narrowed. Only two games technically came out. Final Fantasy Versus XIII eventually became Final Fantasy XV and Final Fantasy Agito XIII wound up being Final Fantasy Type-0. The afor𓆏ementioned canceled games would aꦡlso be reworked in some cases within these titles.
5 Callbacks To Other Games ൩
Final Fantasy XIII would have been the title to celebrate twenty years of the franchise since it began in 1987. Because of that a lot of details were thrown into the game to seemingly celebrate the series as a whole like following themes and referencing other titles. For example, Cid’s ship is called the Lindblum. This is also a kingdom in Final Fantasy IX, the very same kingdom where that gꦯame's Cid resided.
Hope is from Palumpolum, a tribute name to Palom and Porom from Final Fantasy IV. The opening sequence with Lightning and Sazh on the train is also very reminiscent of Final Fantasy VII's iconic opening. The idea of following multiple parties across the game could also be likened to Final Fantasy VI and Final Fantasy IX.
4 💙 Connection To Final Fantasy X
It was a fan theory for awhile, but Yoshinori Kitase, a longtime producer of the series, confirmed in 2018 that Final Fantasy VII and were connected, well, somewhat. This was revealed in an interview with Kitase via on YouTube. There are other theories going around that Final Fantasy XIII is also related to Final Fantasy X. The Calm Lands look like the great plains of Gran Pulse. The NPC wardrobe of everyone looks almost identical to the clothing style in Final Fantasy X. The Crystarium🧸 also looks like the Sphere ꦓGrid. These could be sheer coincidence as many things unify the franchise, but one never knows.
3 Final Fantasy XIII: Episode Zero Promise 💯 🃏
Throughout the game the story flashes back to a thirteen day window before the main events of the game kick off with Lightning and Sazh on the train. Not everything is explained however so there was a prequel novel of collected short stories released in Japan in 2🦂009 alongside the game's launch. It would not be translated until last year, 2019, for Westerns audiences making many mysteries remain hidden for a decade.
2 Fashion Fantasy 🎀
This is actually hard to belꦿieve but the fashion company, Louie Faton, struck a deal with Square Enix to have Lightning be a model for an upcoming line. They even published a fake interview with Lightning about the fashion line for The Telegraph in 2016. To call it a weird c⭕ross promotion would be an understatement, but it is definitely worth a .
1 A Decade Of Final Fantasy XIII 𝓰
Last, but not least, a wakeup call. Again, Final Fantasy XIII was announced in 2006 with a bunch of spinoffs that eventually became their own things. Except for Final Fantasy XIV, which is honestly its own thing and should be considered Final Fantasy Online 2 rather than a main entry, the past fourteen years has been all about this universe. Having the mainline franchise be all about one game for over a decade is crazy considering in the same timeframe of fourteen years, the first game through Final Fantasy X were released. Hopefully Final Fantasy XVI will course correct the ship.
