Somewhat controversially, Intelligent Systems took the Pokemon route with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Fire Emblem Fates and sold two versions of the game: Birthright and Conquest. Birthright was said to be mo🧔re beginner-friendly while Conquest was aimed at veterans of the series and the strategy RPG genre.
There was also a third route, Revelation, that has to be purchased through the Nintendo eShop to be playable. At the time of writing it is still available, but with the eShop's eventual closure it will be impossible to acquire Revelation legitimately. It's a commonly-held belief that playing all three routes is necessary to understand the story of Fire Emblem Fates and get the whole experience, so here's a breakdown of what each story branch entails.
When The Story Branches
No matter which version of the game you have, the first six chapters of Fire Emblem Fates are always the same. Once the battle of chapter six is over, you'll witness a cutscene in which Corrin (the player avatar) is forced to make a choice, and what happens here depends on the games you have and whether you've installed the data for the other games.
Fire Emblem Fates cartridges only come with one of the routes, but the other routes can be installed as DLC from the 🦩eShop, purchased at a lower price than the full game.
- If you only have Birthright, Corrin will automatically choose to side with the Hoshidans.
- If you only have Conquest, Corrin will automatically choose to side with the Nohrians.
- If you have both Birthright and Conquest installed, you can choose which nation to side with.
- If you have Revelation, you can choose to side with neither nation.
Fromꦜ this chapter on, each 🌊route is very different.
Difficulty Differences
There are a few ways in which the routes differ in difficulty. The most noticeable difference is the activities you can do between chapters. While all three routes have access to the Castle facilities that let you smith weapons, play the lottery for items, and bond with units through the hot springs, some features of the game are locked away in ♌Conquest.
In Birthright and Revelation, it is possible to take part in Skirmishes - battles against generic enemies that let you accrue gold and level grind to your heart's desires. This option is not available in Conquest to prevent ෴you from leveling past the difficulty.
While you have access to all difficulty options (such as Casual and Phoenix mode) in all three routes, Conquest's chapters are intrinsically and purposefully harder than those in Birthright and Revelation. You'll encounter more difficult battle goals and stronger enemies.
A notable difference is that in Birthright, higher difficulties merely add more enemies to fight. This leads to more experience gained overall and might make the game even easier. On the other side of things, Conquest's difficulty adjustments are through boosting stats and adding better skills to the enemies, making the difꦗficulty change far more noticeable.
Character Recruitment And Classes
It goes without saying that the rosters you end up with at the ends of these routes vary considerably. The Birthright roster is made up primarily of Hoshidans, while Conquest has Nohrians, and Revelati✅on attempts to bring every single character in the game together.
Thanks to the way classes work in this game, this also means that certain classes are by and large exclusive to one route or another. Conquest has access to more standard Fire Emblem classes such as Cavaliers and Wyvern Lords, while Birthright has its own set of classes such as Oni Savage and Ninja. While some characters can gain access to these classes 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:through Corrin's specialty and Pܫartner/Friendship seals etc., these class setsᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚ are mostly exclusive.
The table below shows the recruitment chapters for every single character in the game and their route exclusivity.

¹Jakob and Felicia are recruited no matter what, but the order depends on your gender. Male Corrin will recruit Felicia in chapter six and Jakob in chapterꦦ 15, and the reverse is true for Female Corrin.
²Fuga and Izana are recruited in the Castl♉e once you have a level three Hot Spring. The earliest this can happen is chapter 18 in Birthright and Revelation, and chapter 22 in Conquest.
³Flora is recruited in the Castle once you have a level three Ballista, Fi༺re Orb, or Launcher. The earliest this can happen is chapter 18 in Conquest and 22 in Revelation.
⁴Yukimura is recruited in the Castle once you have a level three Puppet. The earliest thi🔥s cജan happen is chapter 22. It can be Puppet A, Puppet B, or Puppet C.
⁵Kaze will leave at the end of chapter 15 in Birthright unless he and Corrin have a support rank of A or S. 🧸This does not happen in any other routes.
⁶Reina is a permanen♏t chꦑaracter in Birthright but a temporary character in Revelation.
The route you choose will also dictate which child characters you are able to recruit. Like in Fire Emblem Awakening, you can recruit a child character once the parent they are connected to reaches S Rank support with someone.
In Fates, children are linked to male characters - apart from Kana, who is always Corrin's child, and Shigure, who is always Azura's child.

Note that there are two scenarios where an S Rank support is reached with a parent who wou🐈ld normally produce a child, but no such child appears, and both are 🐭due to same-gender relationships.
- If a Male Corrin achieves S Rank with Niles, neither Kana nor Nina will be born.
- If a Female Corrin achieves S Rank with Rhajat, Kana will not be born
