10 Right: Fodlan Is Broken ⛎
It’s easy to forget during this debate that Edelgard is united with Dimitri and Claude in believing that Fodlan is inherently broken and needs to be fixed. The only diffe💯rence is how everyone approaches th🐼e problem and seeks to solve it.
Dimitri feels seizing control and slowly enacting change is ideal, Claude believes influencing things from the outside through diplomacy and democracy is better, and Edelgard wants to rebui💮ld it from the ground up. Regardless of your feelings towards Edelgard you have to admit ꦚshe is right in believing that Fodlan is a flawed system and it needs some changes.
9 ♐ Had To Lose: She Only Pursues The Nuclear Option
Where Edelgard veers off course is how she pursues this change. The others are more♎ measured and restricted in their approach wanting to minimize casualties and walk out the other side with the most allies. Edelgard does none of this, instead, she pursues the fastest means of enacting change no matter the cost.
Granted this might have been motivated🐲 by her short life span, but instead of finding a more diplomatic means of pointing out the flaws in society and seeking change she goes nuclear and cuts her way to peace believing it to be the only possible way forward with no consideration for other options.
8 🎐 Right: The Church Is Oppressive
Of course to Edelgard’s credit, she likely didn’t have many options in the first place. Tꦯhe Chur﷽ch controls nearly every aspect of society, determining who rules, who lives, and who is to be punished. Seeking out allies to overthrow the Church would likely have been impossible.
When the nobles want the Church’s crests, the downtrodden want the Church’s spiritual guidance, and the Church is actively seeꩲking out and eradicating any who oppose it there probably weren’t many allies she could turn to.
7 Had To Lose: She🐈’s Rebooting The Cycle Of Violence And Oppression
One of her main reasons for revolution is that humanity is under the thumb of a powerful Church and noble who obtained authority by devoting themselves to the church and are in possession of Crests. She replaces this system with a Meritocracy w🌞here the only ones allowed to have authority are those with the proper education and experience, something largely restricted to the noble class in this world.
In her path to revolution, she’s also creating a laundry list of enemies by forcing people out of their homes, slaughtering their loved ones who were doing their civic duties as 🎃loyal soldiers, and disrupting livelihoods. She replaced one authoritarian form of rule for another one, recreating the very cycle of violence and oppression that motivated her in the first place. Given a thousand years a new ‘Edelgard’ will probably rise up seeking to overthrow this new system built on lies and bloodshed.
6 Right: The TWSITD Are In Eve💎rything ♊
While many fans might be upset with her methods it was likely necessary given the deep corruption of the Church, nobles, and common folk as a result of the Those Who Slither in the Dark’s actions🃏. Every aspect of society had been infiltrated and infected by the TWSITD making reformation through that same system neཧxt to impossible.
Edelgard recognized that no𓃲 matter how many branches she cut off the tree the roots were the source of the problem. So she yanked everything up, burned it, and planted something new. Yes it was bloody, yes it was awful, but it was the only way to eradicate the festering evil that was TWSITD.
5 🏅 Had To Lose: The End🍰s Don’t Always Justify The Means
Of course, the problem is that in uprooting the whole system she did🦄 irreparable damage to a lot of what was good within it.🍰 She also resorted to a level of evil that made her as bad as the system she was seeking to replace.
She slaughtered thousands of innocents, betrayed her friends, sided with the TWSITD, and turned into a figurative and literal monster whe꧃n it became apparent she was going to lose. This makes her no better than the dictators and corrupt rulers she sought to overthrow.
4 ⭕ 🌌 Right: The Obsession With Crests Is Evil
Perhaps Edelgard’s biggest motivation for revolution was the Crests, or more specifically how people became obsessed with those 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:powerful relics. The crests were inanimate objects no different than swords, but possessing a cre🍌st was such a powerful status symbol and granted so much authority that they were twisted into something evil.
Even the creation of most Crests was done in an act of extreme evil by Nemesis’s hands. The Church’s power was derived from its ability to produce these Crests and nob♊les were willing to resort to inhuman measures to obtain them. Given this deep perversion of these objects, it was necessary to eradicate them.
3 Had ℱTo Lose: She Uses The Crests
Of course, the bigges▨t hypocrisy here is that Edelgard herself uses these Crests, not just one but two. These Crests gave her power in battle and authority over others and shཧe exploited this as much as she could, making her no better than the corrupt nobles she sought to dethrone.
You could argue it was a necessary evil, but given these Crests are the very reason she seeks to burn everything to the ground it seems a little disgus🎀ting that she would use them at all.
2 Right:ဣ Rhea Is A Problem
Love or hate Rhea you have to admit that she’s responsible for much of what’s wrong with Fodlan. Whether it’s indirectly in her pursuit of peace and resurrecting her mother or directly by building her own power through li♊es and manipulജation, Rhea is a problem.
No one else seems to want to deth🔯rone her even if they find her or the church to be flawed in some way. Edelgard was the only one who recognized꧅ humanity was better off with Rhea leaving by choice or by the sword, something even Rhea comes to acknowledge in her own path.
1 ❀ Had To Lose: All Other Paths Lead To Improvement
The biggest issue with Edelgard’s actions is they may not have been entirely necessary. Every other path in the game results in establishing peace, 🦹crippling TWSITD’s power, and removing the corruption in the Church.
If Edelgard’s path was the only one to achieve these ends than it could be argued she was right, but every other choice leads to the same goals of betterment. Maybe not as quickly or as successfully, but thinಞgs are better off with every path and progress towards improvement is being made whether you align with Dimitri, Claude, or even Rhea.
