I say Three Hopes is kind of a sequel, because it seems to take place in the middle. Three Houses is split in two by a timeskip, during which point protagonist Byleth is out of action. When they awake, the titular three houses have been set against each other, their members scattered to the wind. Three Hopes seems to take place during the skip, based on 🌜both the character designs and the fact everyone is still alive, but also includes B𝄹yleth.
Perhaps it’s non-canonical, which seems like a waste of the potential it could have - it should be to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Three Houses what Strikers was t𓂃o Persona 5 - but would also allow for mor𝕴e experimental roma𒈔nces.

In the original game you play as Byleth, whose age is similar to the students around them, despite the fact they are a teacher. Though the romances only become serious post-timeskip when everyone is of a more appropriate age, it’s still something of a student-teacher relationsh♛ip. It’s about as sketchy as James Franco selling the film rights to his novella on the condition he get to play the central football coach who grooꦡms and molests the teenage players. Yes, this really happened; for those grimly curious, the movie was Palo Alto.
Emma Roberts, the actor playing Franco’s victim, was in reality 22 at the time of shooting, but that doesn’t matter because she is supposed to be a high school student. Similarly, while Byleth and, say, Dorothea are around the same age, it’s undeniably a little icky when you consider the power and authority imbalance in the relationship. There are a handful of older relationships Byleth can pursue, but then it feels flipped - Byleth is too young for their fellow teachers and has too much authority above those their own age. Byleth is Schrodinger’s Lover, either predator or victim, and never allowed to simply be.
Three Hopes can fix that, or at the very le🅺ast can sweep it under the rug. Byleth is in the trailer, but that doesn’t mean they need to play a major role in the game. Far more emphasis is placed on the leaders of the three houses: Edelgard, Claude, and Dimitri. They begin Three Houses as friends, albeit highly competitive ones who don’t always see eye to eye. They end the game as enemies,🏅 some falling in battle as their friendship irrevocably shatters. The solution is simple - let them kiss.
It’s clear we play as all three characters in Three Hopes. It may be, as in the base game, that we choose our house at the start and stick with it for a whole playthrough. Alternatively, we might also be able to switch between them at will. During the timeskip is when the three houses begin to position themselves against each other, ൩but initially at least they would not be mortal enemies. That means it’s possible we could play as them all in turn, fighting for the same cause.
Romance is a key element of Three Houses, and many will be expecting it to return in Three Hopes. Options may be limited, however. None of the other house members appeared in the trailer besides Hubert. Presumably he would be in on the whole thing, hiding in the wardrobe with his chastity device and camcorder while his mistress smooches Claude and Dimitri at the same time. Hubert is clearly devoted to Edelgard, but in Three Houses Byleth can enter a relationship ꦑwith her - in fact, doing so (or not) is one of the single most decisive choices the game affords you. Therefore, Hubert’s return should not mean the throuple idea is off the t🐷able.
Three Hopes will be a musou rather than a TRPG, so will be an atypical Fire Emblem experience much like the first Warriors game. However, Three Houses seemed to bump the game up to a new level of cultural recognition in the West, and more people will have their sights on how well the spin-off handles romance. We may yet play as Byleth and be given our choice of the three leaders, or may play as a single leader and have a new cast of potential beaus to choose from. Hopefully we can mix between the thඣree througꦍhout, and can thrust the trio into a tremendous throuple.
