The Pokemon franchise's generational format has kept things fresh, regularly introducing batches of new Pokemon to keep players excited. You'd think this could cause old Pokemon to be forgotten or overshadowed, but fortunately Game Freak had a solution for this.
Cross-generational evolutions (like the multitude added in Gen Six), Mega Evolutions, regional forms, G-Max forms, and exclusive Z-Moves have all been used to spice up old Pokemon, and no Generation's Dex has received more of these revisits than Generation One. Over 100 of the Kanto Pokemon have been refreshed in some way. Nonetheless, there are still numerous Gen One 'mons who have yet to have their comeback, so here are the few that are most deserving.
10 The Victreebell Lin🌄e 🍒
Bellsprout is undoubtedly an iconic Pokemon. That can be said for a lot of Kanto's Dex, but Bellsprout is notable even by Gen One standards - it even got its own tower in Generation Two's 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:expansive Johto region. And yet in spiteꦿ of all this, Bellsprout has never been revisited.
A Mega Victreebell or a Galarian Bellsprout sounds like it'd make perfect sense, so why these beloved plants remain forgotten in Gen One is a mystery. Given the line's popularity, it's likely only a matter of time and we'll probably see some kind of Bellsprout form at some point in the future.
9 The Cloyster Line ꦛ
Cloyster is arguably one of Kanto's more forgettable Pokemon, only being encountered in the late game, and outshone in its typing by the likes of Lapras. That said, Cloyster is a fantastic design, and a new form could be exactly what it needs to become more relevant.
A regional variant with a more unique typing would be perfect to bring Cloyster into the limelight - perhaps Cloyster in the waters of a warmer volcanic region look different and have a water/fire typing? Whatever f🐻orm the comeback would take, Cloyster definitely deserves one.
8 ಌ The Tentacruel Line ღ
Similar to Cloyster, Tentacruel is native to the waters of Kanto, although Tentacruel isn't as overlooked as its shellfish counterpart. Tentacruel is respected by players as a strong water-type with a good secondary typing, and its ubiquity on water routes means it sees a lot of use in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:challenging Nuzlocke playthroughs.
In spite of this beloved status, Tentacruel has seemingly been forgotten by Game Freak. It seemed like a perfect candidate for a Mega, but alas, we never got one. Whatever new form Tentacruel (hopefully) eventually gets, it'll surely be as well-received as the line itself.
7 𒊎 ⛦ The Primeape Line
Another Pokemon in the camp of being more overlooked, Primeape is outshone by numerous other fighting types - in Kanto alone, it's significantly overshadowed by Machamp. Plenty of arguably✤ underwhelming Pokemon♈ have been refreshed with regional variants, so why not Primeape?
There are several typings that are yet to be paired with fighting - imagine an electric/fighting regional Primeape that would serve as a strong mixed attacker. As things stand, Primeape is one of the most forgettable fighting types in the entire franchise, so some kind of update would be great for it.
6 🐭 🐷 The Parasect Line
Parasect is a seriously cool Pokemon. A small bug with mushrooms growing on its back that eventually becomes possessed by those mushrooms is a great concept, and its♉ helpful moves and abilities for putting foes to sleep make it even better.
While Parasect is neither particularly overlooked nor beloved by fans, its uniqueness and helpfulness make it surprising that it hasn't received some kind of love from Game Freak. It seems like the sort of Pokemon that would have been perfect for a Sinnoh evolution, so why it hasn't gotten something is a mystery.
5 🍃 The Dewgong Line
While Dewgong seems like yet another forgettable Gen One water/ice type, it's absolutely adorable, and that alone makes it a travesty Dewgong hasn't been revisited. It has great potential, though - water/ice is a good typing, and Dewgong has a fantastic movepool.
A Mega or G-Max form to give it the power to take advantage of these moves seems like a no-brainer, and such forms are the perfect way to bring interest to otherwise-mediocre Pokemon. For now, all ⭕we can do is hope Dewgong gets the power-up it deserves in a future Generation.
4 🍬 🍷 Tauros (and Miltank?)
Tauros is a pretty cool Pokemon, and in Red and Blue, it was an absolute powerhouse thanks to how Hyper Beam worked back in Gen One. However, Tauros has sadly never had a comeback, but many fans have an idea for what a good one could be, and it involves Miltank.
Though the latter was introduced a generation later, Ta🎐uros and Miltank are often viewed as a counterpart pair due to being a bull and cow respectively. Because of this, a shared pre-evolution calf that evolves into Tauros if it's male and Miltank if it's female seems like the perfect solution - it's a wonder it doesn't already exist.
3 The Starmie Line 𓆏
Starmie is about as iconic a Gen One Pokemon as it gets, not counting the likes of Pikachu and Eevee. The powerful starfish served as Misty's ace for the memorable (but formidable) gym battle in Kanto games, and in the anime where it traveled with her.
But this beloved status among fans isn't reflected in the attitude the franchise has shown towards Starmie. A regional variant could be amazing, as could a special Z-Move, but sadly this starfish is yet to receive any kind of comeback.
2 🐲 The Nidoking and Nidoqueen Lines ♔
Nidoking and Nidoqueen are true Gen One icons, serving as the cornerstone (or HM slave) of countless Kanto teams. They were prime candidates for Megas, yet for whatever reason, they were overlooke🥃d in both Gen Six g𝄹ames.
Whatever kind of refresh the Nidos could get, it does seem like a matter of time. So many other famous Kanto 'mons have gotten something that Nidoking and Nidoqueen's turn must be soon, and whatever they end up with, it'll be a welcome addition to these beloved Pokemon.
1 ♒ The Dragonite Line
Dragonite is arguably a face of not one, but two generations, serving as the only dragon type in Gen One, and the mascot of the dragon type as it plays a key role in Generation Two. And it's not like there isn't precedent for 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:pseudo-legendaries being revisited - Mega Metagross and Sꦐaꦅlamence both exist.
A regional Dragonite or G-Max form seems like a good idea if Megas are no longer on the table, but for the time beℱing, all fans can do is speculate. Hopefully, Game Fre🔯ak will revisit Dragonite soon, giving it the comeback it deserves.
