The long-awaited Five Nights At Freddy's movie adaptation is almost upon us, releasing on October 27 next month, just in time for the spooky season. It's the first time that the series will hit the silver screen, but there's a slight possibility that it won't be the last, as director Emma Tammi has expressed her desire to make a trilogy of Five Nights at Freddy's movies if the first does well enough.
Speaking in an interview with SFX Magazine (thanks ), Tammi was asked whether there are any plans for future Five Night at Freddy's movies following the release of the first next month. While it sounds like there aren't any current plans for more movies right now, Tammi doesn't rule out the possibility if the upcoming one performs particularly well.
"I think we💧 would all feel so fortunate to be able to continue making movies in this universe and with these characters," says Tammi. "It’ll all depend on how thing𝕴s go with this first one, but should we be lucky enough to make more I would absolutely want to be involved and would feel lucky to be included in those sequels, should they happen."
Given how much excitement there is surrounding the movie at the moment, it's difficult to imagine it doing poorly. Even if it's just fans of the series that turn up in their droves, it's ingrained in pop culture and popular enough to make a decent bit of cash. Whether or not that's going to be enough cash to satisfy the big wigs enough into greenlighting a couple of sequels, that remains to be seen. At least we know there's a passionate director ready and willing to take charge of any potential sequels though.
Speaking of possible Five Nights at Freddy's projects, a recent Q&A with Dead by Daylight developers Behaviour Interactive gave fans of the series renewed♏ hope that a crossover of some sorts may be in the works. It wasn't outright confirmed by the team, but when asked whether Five Night at Freddy's could make an appearance in the future, Behaviour simply said "Never say never!" in response. You'd have to think with a new movie on the horizon, you don't get many better crossover opportunities than that.
We'll have to see whether the upcoming movie performs well before we can start talking big crossovers and sequels though, so hopefully Freddy Fazbear's debut on the big screen propels the series to even further popularity and success.
