Last weekend saw the first of Coachella's two weekends, as pretty much every celebrity in the world's Instagram feed reminds us. The California festival was headlined by Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, Swedish House Mafia, and The Weeknd, with supporting performances by Phoebe Bridgers, Megan Thee Stallion, Kim Petras, Olivia O'Brien, Joji, Brockhampton, Disclosure, Orville Peck, and many more, but that's almost secondary. Coachella might be a music festival, but it can often feel more like an interactive selfie backdrop with optional music playing in the background - especially for the VIPs with their private pools. Today then, we're going to look at which video game characters might have gone to the festival, if not to perform, then certainly to stand around posing.Related: Coachella Interview: Why Theಌ F💖estival Partnered With Fortnite

Aerith - Final Fantasy 7

Coachella's resident flower queen is Vanessa Hudgens, who helped popularise the now-signature flower crown look of the festival. If you don't know who Vanessa Hudgens is, I'm sorry but there are going to be a lot of references here you don't get. Are you sure you meant to click on this? Anyway, Aerith is clearly the flower queen of the video game space, and so is a perfect fit for Coachella's au natural vibes. Aerith's job as a flower seller, her deep connection with nature, and the fact flowers play a key symbolic role throughout Final Fantasy 7 make her the obvious choice as flower queen. Just don't expect to see her walking around in her underwear like Chloe Cherry or Bretman Rock. Sabrina Carpenter, Peyton List, and Kathryn Newton seem more her speed.

Tsareena - Pokemon

If Aerith is a flower queen, then Tsareena is a flower goddess. The most haughty Pokemon is fully equipped for that classic Coachella look, and her thigh h꧋igh vinyl boots give the outfit that extra pop. She might start off having fun with Camila Mendes and Lili Reinhart, but expect to see her hanging around at all-night with Nikita Dragun and Bella Poarch by the end of the weekend - she might even end up with rainbow tiger hair by the end of it.

Sylvain - Fire Emblem: Three Houses

Coachella isn't all about pretty women in flower crowns - it's also about fuckboys. Lots and lots of fuckboys. Harry Styles is presumably Sylvain's personal hero due to his level of fuckboyery, and expect to see a very shirtless Sylvain circulating around Indio, Cali throughout the festivities. Strangely, Claude looks like he'd be Fire Emblem's biggest fuckboy, but he's more of a loveable himbo. Plenty of those at Coachella too, but fuckboys are more emblematic of what Coachella is about.

Ankha - Animal Crossing

Coachella is the Holy Grail for influencers, and Ankha feels like gaming's answer to Abby Roberts. Any of the snooty villagers have the right sort of temperament to fit in at Coachella, but Ankha feels like the best fit for a few reasons. For one thing, she looks the part. Her make-up always has the sharpest, Team Maddie winged eyeliner, while her over-the-top body jewellery fits right in at Coachella. Plus, we all know Ankha loves TikTok. She'll get a few reels of herself at Billie Eilish, but really she's there for Bella Thorne's VIP party and Jordyn Jones' pool. If you don't know who any of these people are I commend you on reading so far, Coachella really doesn't seem like your thing. Fair play.

Mario - Super Mario Bros.

Mushrooms are quite popular at Coachella💞, I hear. Hoꦗpe those of you with no knowledge of Coachella thought it was worth sticking around for that joke.
