Legend Story Studios has announced two cards are being banned in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Flesh and Blood, with the aim of weakening the ꦆcurrent dominating hero of the game, Chane, Bound By Shadow.
Though Chane himself is not being banned, one of the key tools in decks that use him is. Seeds of Agony is a Shadow Runeblade Action that allows the next attack that costs a certain amount (depending on Seed's colour) to deal one damage to an opponent's hero. According to Legend Story, Seeds of Agony made Chane decks too good, particularly against Aggro-focused decks.
In the announcing the ban, which is to come into affect on September 24, Legend Story explains that Seeds of Agony was primarily designed for drafting of the Monarch set. However, organised play was then delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and by the time tournaments were able to happen again, people had picked up on the ജutility of it in the Classic Constructed format.
Seeds of Agony is being banned in both Classic Constructed and the multiplayer format Blitz. The latter will come as a blow to many, as Chane's pre-constructed Blitz deck includes four copies of it, rendering it no longer legal for the very format it was designed to be an introduction to.
The second ban is a pre-emptive one, with Duskblade from the upcoming Tales of Aria set getting the chop before it's even been released. In a similar fashion to Seeds of Agony, it was not designed with Classic Constructed in mind, and was "not subjected to the… testing processes it should have been". Unlike Seeds of Agony, Duskblade is only being banned in Classic Constructed, and so is still playable in Blitz.
Chane himself is not being banned, however his time in Flesh and Blood is limited. One of the game's defining features is the system, where heroes are rotated out of legality once they've clocked up enough wins in organised play. Chane is currently sat at the top of the list, with 402 of the required 1000 points to become a Living Legend and no longer be legal.
Chane completely swamped the recent 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Calling Las Event tournament, where 45% of the top 64 decks, and five of the top eight, were Chane decks. While the tournament was ultimately won by Tyler Horspool and his Prism deck, it still highlighted just how overwhelming Chane's popularity is. Mentioning this ubiquity at The Calling, Legend Story said that "we believe Chane's current power level is oppressive to the viability of other aggressive decks, and to be frank, has consistent play patters that are proving unfun to play against and spectate".
