has announced that , its -esque multiplayer🍸 foam shooter, will be launching on F⛦ebruary 6 as a monthly title and on March 5 as a standalone purchase.
It hasn't been all that long since Square Enix first announced that it was developing Foamstars, a brand-new third-person shooter IP that has players shooting foam at one another and spreading different-coloured suds across the environment to move around on. Despite that short amount of time since its announcement, it seems that the🍰 foam party is already about to start, as Square Enix has confirmed a release date for the title.

♐ Foamstars Could Be Exactly What Splatoon Needs
Foamstars is being dismissed as a Splatoon rip-off, but it could help ꦰlaunꦿch a new genre: the Splatlike.
, Foamstars is going to be launching as a PlayStation Plus monthly title on February 6, with a standalone version being made for purchase on March 5 for $29.99. That means that if you're subscribed to PlayStation Plus, you'll be able to get access to Foamstars for no extra charge in less than a month from now.
Alongside announcing the release date, Square Enix also shared a number of new details on the project during a recent media briefing. One of those details is a new game mode, Rubber Duck Party, which has two teams fighting for control of a large rubber 🍃duck in the middle of the map that acts as a payload that must be danced on top of in order to make🐠 it move.
For those wanting a little less multiplayer action in their foam escapades, ꦜSquare Enix also announced that Foamstars will launch with several mission modes that let players either take on missions on their own (known as Foamstar Missions) or with up to four players in Squad Missions. This mode will see players taking on Bubble Beasties and act as an extension of the main mode for anyone wanting to practise their skills.
Outside of game modes, Foamstars' various different in-game purchases were revealed during the media briefing. Every player will get access to free seasonal updates for at least one year, which includes cosmetics, characters, maps, and game modes, but those wanting to dive a little deeper into the game can purchase a premium season pass that is made up of cosmetics and grants access to characters right away that would otherwise have to be earned through gameplay.
For those not wanting to buy into the premium season pass, Foamstars' developers assured that unlocking new characters wouldn't take that long and that it won't be a grindfest.
