Players have not🐠iced that eliminating a player with a Chinese character in their username can cause Fortnite to freeze or, ♔in some cases, crash entirely.
Games that are incomplete/constantly updated by design come with their own set of unique issues. That's to be expected and is kind of the point. In most cases, these games will be played by so many people that any problems will be disco💞vered right away. Developers will then go about patching and fixing those issues, that's the hope at least.
That happens very often in battle royale games. However, one issue appears to have fallen under the radar in Fortnite. Either that or Epic is unable to fix the issue. The problem comes when a player eliminates an enemy with a Chinese character inꦯ their username. As is exhibited in the clip below, doing so causes the game to freeze for a few seconds.
It might not seem like much, but those few seconds can make all the difference for s⭕ome players. Take a match in Squads, for instance. Odds are that the eliminated player will have a teammate or two lurking nearby. Those few seconds where a player is unable to move and fire might be enough for those teammates to avenge their fallen comrade's elimination.
Even worse, while not confirmed via a clip for obvious reasons, there have also been reports of the game crashing when a player with a Chinese character in their username is eliminated. If true, that is not🤪 good at all. There's also a chance that players getting wind of this could put a Chinese character in th🎐eir username on purpose to take advantage of the glitch.
The player with the character in their username wouldn't be able to directly benefit, of course, since they would have been eliminated. However, those aforementioned teammates could swoop in and take advantage of the player who killed their buddy. They could then seek out a Reboot Van and bring the player back from elimination. A lot of effort, but we wouldn't be surprised to hear that so🌱me players have been doing exactly that.
