Epic G♍ames has made it clear that absolutely nothing is off the table.

While that doesn't appear to be happening any time soon, Epic Games has at least confirmed that Fortnite:꧒ OG will be making a comeback at some point ꩵin 2024. We don't yet know what that's going to entail beyond giving us more classic Chapter 1 goodness, but an Epic Games developer has hinted that it's not going to be the same as the mini-season we just experienced.

, , who recently had the chance to speak to Epic's head of Fortnite's ecosystem, Saxs Persson. While speaking about Fortnite: OG, Persson reconfirmed that the mode is going to be making a comeback in 2024, but that it hasn't been decided when.

"It's just a matter of how and when, and how do we make it so it's not just the same."

Persson then went on to say that the team is still deciding how and when to bring back the mode and that Epic Games wants to make sure that Fortnite: OG isn't just "the same" as it was in 2023. This seems to suggest that whenever Fortnite: OG does make a return, it's going to have some differences from the mini-season that we just experienced.

That's pretty vague and doesn't give too much away about the studio's plans for the mode, but there are plenty of ways that it could go about bringing back Fortnite: OG. For starters, it's possible that the 2024 version of the mode could instead focus on a different Chapter altogether, like Chapter 2 or Chapter 3. There isn't quite as much nostalgia for those Chapters as there was for the first one, but it would certainly make sure that it's not the same experience as it just was.
