When it opens, Four Months Earlier, a new point-and-click game that’s essentially a prologue to Linda & Joan, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a narrative game about a ♌British family, players are told, “The next 12 months will be the worst year of your life.”
Inspired by a true story, Four Months Earlier, is about a mother and son exploring Griffith Park in Los Angeles in 2018. The events on the hike will foretell the future of this family. The tꦜwo main characters, based on creator Russell Quinn and his late mother Linda, engage in an intimate conversation that references Linda’s cancer.
The game, which is an emotional exploration of family relationships, is ultimately about connection, a feeling Quinn says he wanted to explore further 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:in the wake of COVID-19. Originally intended as a short, free game to be released in April, the designer decided to expand the game to re𒈔flect our current reality.
Quinn started developing Linda & Joan as a way to cope with losing his mother and grandmother in a short period of time. The coronavirus lockdown, however, made him realize that Four Months Earlier could stand on🌄 its own as an introduction to the full story. In self-isolation, the designer decided to enhance the look of the game as if it were a digital painting. He says he was inspired by English painter George Shaw, noted for his quiet suburban landscapes.
Four Months Earlier gives players a sense of how the character’s choices will affect them in the long term. In Linda & Joan, when the main character must make his way home to care for his dying mother, players get to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:point-and-click to decide what direction he should take.
Quinn, who returned to England for a year to care for his mother before she passed, doesn’t want the game to be depressi🍌ng, but rather he wants players to focus on how the decisions we take can help make the most of a bad situation.
After he returned to Los Ang🎀eles, Quinn says he felt disconnected, unable to share the trauma he had undergone. He began developing the game as a way to allow players to explore their feelings. Although he knows that most will be aware of the ending before starting, he wants users to reflect on how import🌺ant the present is instead of focusing on what the inevitable outcome will be.
