The protagonist from Serious Sam has a slight variation in his appearance depending on the art. He goes from cartoonishly proportioned to someone who looks like they spend eight hours in the gym at a time. The only real difference is Sam's black hair versus Duke's blonde cut. Though Master Chief's suit looks notably more high-tech and not like something every grunt in space would have, the similarities between him and the protagonist from Doom are obvious. The helmet alone does most of the work in connecting the two characters. The original Doom's design had simple pants and a shirt, while the new games have a much fancier wardrobe for the protagonist in addition to the helmet, making the two even closer in resemblance.
