is finally out, but it🦩's plag𒈔ued with connectivity errors.
Gun Media’s has been a long time coming. Since it was first announced in October 2015, fans have been keeping a close watch on the game’s progress. It was finally released on May 26th, and… well, it’s had a bit of a bumpy landing. Let’s take ꦇa look.
The high-profile launch has been plagued by login errors, as many Steam users have been reporting. Horror aficionados, Kickstarter backers, and just plain old people who have a little faith in a licensed game (for once) all tried to connect, making for traffic that the title simply couldn’t cope with. If you remember the bug- and glitch-amundo release of Grand Theft Auto Online, you’ll know the kiꦆnd of situation that players are facing.
As was the case with Rockstar’s release, some players have💎 been able to connect and others haven’t. If you’re one of the less fortunate, you can take solace in the fact that the team have taken to Steam to keep us updated and walk us through the process of fixing the issue.
‘That is a server migration issue,’ the dev team posted on . 'Basically we're turning off our first set of servers and upgrading servers to be more widely usable for people around the world (we want you to play with people close to you, but not have you waiting for too long). We have upgraded to servers that should very easily be able to handle everyone, but we want to say that issues like this login problem might show up.’
Since the problem first arose, this statement was amended to offer a couple of workarounds and fixes, such as opening Family Share settings for a separate account. The player would, of course, start afresh with no experience to their name, but they ‘should’ be able to start playing Friday the 13th: The Game. The caveat being, they’d still be vulnerable to further login errors arising on that account.
As of yesterday morning, players have been assured that the situation is improving somewhat. Accounts seem to be being reset, or are at risk of being reset, but gamers are starting to get more stable access to the game; for a꧑ll that’s worth. As it stands, it’s the XP issues and the unlocking of Perks and Kills that are most troubling.
As far as concrete information, all we have to go on is the team’s assurances to fans on that they are ‘working on servers like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥’, which is doubtless a comfort to many.
All we can do is hop🐬e that these myriad issues are resolved quickly. After all, the very reason that this means so much to people is because the game has such promise (and, of course, they’ve paid out for something that doesn’t work, but that’s a given). Signs were super encouraging pre-release; we were drip-fed updates and teasers and they all pointed to a polished product that would be faithful to the source material. Most important of all, it was a ton of fun. It still is, when you can access it, so let’s hope this is resolved before the PR nightmare becomes too much.
Grand Theft Auto Online recovered in a big way, after all, so there’s still ho𓃲pe.
