When it comes to Mario's spin-off titles, the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Paper Mario series is easily the most divisive in terms of fan reception, since Nintendo seems adamant in making sure the series never returns to its 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Bug Fables style roots that made it so beloved in the first place. Although Paper Mario has change🌳d many core mechanics over the years, the one aspect that has largely stayed the same is its come♛dic approach to storytelling.
While the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Mario franchise uses some levels of comedy, Paper Mario makes it the core of its storytelling, leaning into the ridiculousness of the paper aspect of the world and how the paper n💮ature of the characters would interact with regular Mario threats.
10 𝄹 Luigi's Honesty
In 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Origami King, Luigi and Mario quickly find themselves locked inside Peach's castle with no way out, and Luigi vocalizes his usual process when poop hits the fan in the Mushroom Kingdom. His first call to action is to track down Mario, which he quickly realizes is redundant as Mario is already with him and highlights what it's like for everyone who isn't Mario in the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Mushroom Kingdom.
9 ꦕ Gourmet Shy Guy ♏
Shy Guys and Fly Guys are normally shown as short, somewhat rotund minions and enemies of Mario. In the original Paper Mario, players are introduced to a slightly different version of these classic eꦚnem𒊎ies known as Gourmet Shy Guy, who is much taller and larger than your garden variety Shy Guy. Clearly very attached to food and eating, Gourmet Shy Guy becomes overly excited and energetic if Mario gives him some cake, making him fly off screen why exclaiming how much he loves cake.
8 Fear My Accounting ꧟ 👍
168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Thousand-Year Door is usually seen as the quintessential Paper Mario game, and it's not hard to see why. The RPG mechanics and story are arguably the best they have ever been in a Paper Mario game, but the humor that comes out of certain characters is also some of the best seen in all of Super Mario
At one point, the player is able to control Bowser and talk to a handful of Toads going about their own business. One such Toad asks Bowser who he is, and the player is given multiple options, with one being a businessman. In his introduction, Bowser claims to be a businessman of legend and that they should fear his accounting,💮 a skill that Bowser most certainly doesn't have.
7 🌃 Olivia's Gondolo Ride
As far as companions go, it's hard not to love Olivia in The Origami King. Her innocent and energetic outbursts ar🌜e able to alleviate even the most tense of situations, but her gondola ride monologue is particularly cute, right up until Bobby steps in. Not sure what to make of Mario and Olivia, Bobby simply asks her if it is her first time out of the house, but then goes on to say he has 'Thinky Thinky Panic', as he ironically can't remember the word 'amnesia'.
6 𒉰 Minion Cafe ജ
Players don't often get to see what the life of Bowser's minions are like, but The Origami King takes multiple opportunities to see what it's like to bಌe the henchman for an evil overlord. One of these recurring jokes comes in the form of minion cafes, where Goombas, Koopa Troopers, and Shy Guys go to unwind after a long day of pacing back and forth. Mario is also accosted by se🐼veral minions who are long time fans of the plumber, and force him to chose which minion is the most threatening.
5 Straight To Voicemail ꦰ
Color Splash may be one of the least-loved Paper Mario games, but that doesn't mean it isn't' without its comedic moments. In a nod to the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Luigi's Mansion games, Toad claims to have called Luigi to help with the spooky stuff going on at the Dark Bloo Inn, but his call goes straight to voicemail instead. This is probably the reason why no one in the Mushroom Kingdom tries to rely on Luigi for anything important, since he isn't even professional enough to do the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:one thing he is good at.
4 🎃 The Museum Things
Sticker Star is usually seen as the black sheep of Paper Mario games, with the sticker🌊 system of combat being very badly received even by the most accepting fans of the series. While combat stickers may be entirely pointless and force players to avoid combat altogether, the collectible items are a different matter entirely.
The museum in Sticker Star has a collection of stickers based on Things, which boil down to a bad description of what the Toads think these everജydaꦺy objects are used for. Many of these item descriptions border on ridiculous, but make some sort of sense considering they live in a world made of paper and cardboard.
3 ꦚ Bowser's Diary
Bowser may never admit it to the world, but his job isn't without its emotional baggage. To help him through his days of kidnapping and overthrowing the monarchy, Bowser keeps a diary in his room, which players are able to read in the original Paper Mario. This insight into Bower's life is a mixture of hilarity and heartbreak, since he genuinely wants Peach to retu♏rn his romantic feelings but knows that she will never feel the same way about him.
2 Plumpbelly Village 🍷
In The Thousand-Year Door, Luigi can be found running around with his own Bob-omb companion who looks less like a bomb and more like a cherry. When talked to, Luigi will t𓆉ell Mario a story of how he defeated the evil snake Hizza by dressing up as a bridal sacrifice. Almost immediately after Luigi starts talking, Mario starts falling asleep during the story and seems to miss the entire thing. While Mario not paying his brother any attention is a little depressing, ౠthe content of Luigi's story just gets more ridiculous by the second and makes you wonder what else he gets up to when Mario isn't around.
1 Guess 🤡Again, ♐Nerd
Punio is an appropriately named Puni found in Boggly Woods in The Thousand-Year Door along with his sister, Petuni. In his first encounter with Mario, he is terrified of the plumber and asks for confirmation that he isn't a bully. Naturally, Mario is given the option to respond "Guess again, nerd!" before being berated by his companion for his mo🍌st un-heroic act against a civilian.
