With i❀ts win at the BLAST Invitational, G2 Esports' Valorant roster remains undefeated in the European Ignition🌟 Series.
The team’s latest victory in its route to the finals seemed like business as usual. G2 swept through Ninjas in Pyjamas and FunPlus Phoenix in the winner’s bracket. Going into the finals against FunPlus Phoenix, G2 was poised to take the꧋ entire tournament without dropping a game, especially considering the team swept FPX in the winner's finals. Because G2 was on the winner’s side, it went into the finals with a one-match lead.
FPX went into the finals ready for the rematch. The series began on Ascent, a map that G2 historically dominates. To the surprise of many, FPX matched G2’s aggression and dominated map one. Shadow and Zyppan in particular had some incredibly impactful plays that continually stonewalled G2. FPX won map one with a 13-7 score,𝕴 but G2 punched back hard on map two (Bind). Mixwell and crew played a perfect attack side, winning all 12 rounds. While FPX won a few rounds after t🌠he side swap, it was not enough, as G2 cleaned up soon after.
Map three on Haven showed FPX’s composure. Throughout the entire 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Ignition Series, whenever G2 dominated a map as it did on Bind, the roster historically used its momentum to finish off its opponents. FPX did not allow that to happen, as it bounced back on Haven to win 13-6. FPX pushed the kings of European Valorant farther than any other team had, just one match away from dethroning G2. The final map took place of Split, which notoriously favors defenders. Normally, the goal for the attacking side is to win a minimum of four rounds because of how one-sided the map is. FPX won five, and it could have won six if it were not for an ace from Mixwell's Jett. FPX then took a 10-7 lead over G2 after the side swap, and looked to finally give G2 its first tournament loss. Unfortunatelℱy for FPX, the kings of Europe flipped a switch and began winning every single engagement and execution. G2 won with a final score of 13-11.
G2’s triumph at the BLAST Invitational differed from its other victories. Mixwell, while achieving some incredible highlights, did not perform up to his usual standards. Normally, the star leads a tournament with the most kills; this time, the Spanish native did not even lead his own teamﷺ in kills. Usually, it’s a worrying sign when a star player underperforms. In G2’s case, it just makes the roster even more terrifying to the opposition.
