There are plenty of Pokemon that come out that are reminiscent of past designs, with some being labeled as lazy or uninspired. Sometimes these criticisms are valid, as some new Pokemon essentially come across as copies of older already beloved designs. Some concessionဣs need to be made, of course, with such a large and ever-expanding roster.
168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokemon Sword & Shield is the most recent release, and it gifted the fandom with dozens of new Pokemon to fall in love with. However, some feel eerily familiar to counterparts f♛rom the🍰 past.
10 𝓰 Nickit (Vulpix)
If someone asked a Pokemon fan to name a red fox Pokemon, their reply would likely be Vulpix — unless 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokemon Sword & Shield was their first entry into the series. From a typing standpoint, both Nickit and Vulpix are rather different. One is a Dark-type, while the other is a Fire-type, so they're not identical. Even from a design standpoint, The Pokemon Company did a good job of making anotherꦍ red fox Pokemon while giving it design elements that differentiate it enough from a beloved Pokemon rooted ♔in the Kanto region.

8 Grapploct𒐪 ꦗ(Octillery)
Though Octillery is a beloved red octopus Pokemon, most would consider Grapploct to be a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:much better-designed Pokemon. For starters, it happens to evolve from a smaller octopus, whereas Octillery is the fi♔nal form of a small fish Pokemon named Remoraid.
That evolutionary line has never made much sense, and it has been a point of contention for the fanbase for years🦂. Grapploct seems like the protagonist of an anime and Octillery is the comic relief sibling or cousin.
7 𝔉 Blipbug (Scatterbug) ൩
With the Pokemon series recently hitting eight generations, there's bound to be some overlap when certain evolutionary lines follow the same structure. One such structure is the 3-step evolutionary Bug-type line that's in every new region. This often results in a butterfly Pokemon of some sort, but for the Galar re💞gion, it happened to be an extraterrestrial ladybug. That's why Blipbug and many of the other caterpillar Pokemon (such as Scatter﷽bug) looking so alike is alarming considering their final forms can differentiate from one another quite drastically.
6 🍰 Grookey (Pansage) ꦅ
Funny enough, a starter Pokemon based on one of the three elemental monkeys from the 5th generation of games isn't all that surprising. The franchise already had a Fire-type monkey named Infernape, so the reveal of Grookey 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:as a Grass-type monkey should have been a no-brainer. Yes, Pansage and Grookey are both Grass-type monkeys, 🧸but that's not a bad thing. It seemsꦕ the only thing left to do for The Pokemon Company is to design a Water-type monkey in the coming generations to complete the set.
5 ꦿ♎ Rookidee (Starly)
As was mentioned with the caterpillar-like Pokemon earlier, the series has trends that will feel similar. Another one of these trends is exemplified by the 3-stage bird Pokemon evolutionary lines encountered at the beginning of the game. Many of the base forms of these birds tend to have bulbous bodies, small heads, and tiny beaks. Rookidee of the Galar region and Starly from the Sinnoh rꦉegion were picked for this entry, but Rookidee could have been paired with various other Normal-type bird Pokemon who are th🍨e base forms of their evolutionary lines.
4 Eldegoss (Whimsicꦏott)
The strangest thing about Eldegoss isn't it feeling eerily similar to Whimsicott, but rather that it's a pure Grass-type and 🌄doesn't have the Fairy-type as its secondary typing. Both of these creatures have a connection to cotton, so much so that most of the mass of their head and bodies is comprised of it.
The real difference is that Eldegoss comes across as a sentient plant of s🍰orts, whereas Whimsicott feels like a tiny forest creature with an abundance of energy and power. Their silhouettes also happen to be rather similar when compared to one another.
3 ⛦ Arrokuda (Relicanth)
Outside of having very similar color schemes and both being fish Pokemon, it's hard to connect Relicanth and Arrokuda beyond that. The former is a slow-moving ancient creature and the latter evolves into one of the fastest Pokemon in existence. The combinati✱on of brown and tan isn't one that's found in many Pokemon designs, and it's why these two creatures feel so connected. Fans have wanted Relicanth to receive a powerful evolution that turns the forgotten creature into a giant leviathan se🌌a creature of some sort.
2 Alcremie (Slurp🗹uff) 𒈔
Alcremie and Slurpuff are so similar as Pokemon design concepts that the likelihood of someone mixing the two up in casual conversation is rather common. Both are primarily white and pink 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Fairy-type Pokemon, and their respective designs and names relate to desserts. Looking at the two side-by-side makes i🐻t obvious how different they look, but when describing or talking about them as concepts or designs one can easily be mistaken for the other. Their base forms (named Milcery and Swirlix) also happen to have the same issue.
1 𒉰 Morpeko (Pikac🔯hu)
Pikachu is the face of the Pokemon franchise. And with every generation, The Pokemon Company has tried to recapture that magic in a new Pokemon. There are more than a few Pokemon throughout the series that are 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:blatant and obvious retreads of the beloved electrified rodent. Morpeko at least has a unique concept where it cha🌳nges forms and has the added secondary typing of the Daꦐrk-type. However, it's still very clearly the 8th generation's version of Pikachu, even if it has a bit of its own ground to stand on.
