The Game Gear was Sega’s attempt at joining the handheld console world. Unlike its rival, the Nintendo Game Boy, it was backlit and had color, but it also required 4 extra AA batteries that it would chew through at an alarming rate. Still, like most of the things classic Sega did, it was ahead of its time. Though the console is essentially a portable Master Sysℱtem, it still had many great games, as well as the benefit of being portable.

With the Game Gear Micros coming out, it got us thinking about all of the great Game Gear games the could🤪’ve 𝓡been added, so we curated a list of 10 games we would like to see on the next batch of Game Gear Micros.

10 Dynamite Heady

Sega, along with the creator of Dynamite Headdy, Treasure, seem to have a long-standing relationship. One of Treasure’s greatest game꧒s, Gunstar Heroes, has even made it on to one of the Game Gear Micros, and all of Treasure’s games are mainstays on Sega’s re-releases of classic games, such as on compilations and the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Sega Genesis Mini.

Because of Sega’s longstanding relationship with Treasure and the fact that it’s a great game, we feeꦫl 🗹that Dynamite Headdy and 🦩all of its colorful head-swapp🏅ing action would be a great fit on one of the Game Gear Micros.

9 Ristar

Ristar is a somewhat obscure game, even on its original home, the Genesis. The Game Gear version shares many similarities like the detailed and colorful sprites and some of the levels. However, the Game Gear version changes up level design and some game♒play mechanics to better fit the bulky, yet portable system, maki🐻ng it a great playthrough, even if you have had some fun with the original Genesis version.

The original Genesis game has seen many re-releases on Sega’s compilations of classic games and on the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Sega Genesis Mini, but we fe💫el that the Game Gear version could use a bit more love.

8 Tails Adventure

Tails Adventure is a side game to the Sonic series that stars Miles "Tails" Prower, Sonic’s loyal fox friend. You won’t be spin dashing or running at the speed of sound in this one. Instead, you use ♒Tails’ ability𝔍 to fly around and knowledge of gadgets to traverse levels.

Oppose to the linear format of the main Sonic titles, Tails Adventure has a more open feel that emphasizes exploratio🌌n and finding new items,🐈 similar to Nintendo’s Metroid series. The game has been re-released with Sonic Adventure DX and Sonic Gems Collection, but it would be great t🌱o see this interesting take on the Sonic series get some more love.

7 Shinobi II: The Silent Fury

Back in the 80s and 90s, Shinobi was a heavy hitter within Sega’s catalog. There was the original arcade release which was p𒉰orted to many different consoles, the three excellent games on the Sega G꧃enesis, and there was even a revival on Sony’s Playstation 2 and the Nintendo 3DS.

However, the Game Gear games, Shinobi and Shinobi II: The Silent Fury hardly get any attention, which is a shame, as they are a unique♛ take on Sega’s classic ninja series and some๊ of the better games on the Game Gear.

6 Sonic Drift 2

Long before Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing and Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, there was the Sonic Drift series on the Game Gear. While the first game was rather ba😼re-bones and lacked polished, Sonic Drift 2 took everything good about the first game and added🐻 new stages, new characters, and improved the controls.

Similar to Nintendo’s original Super Mario Kart, Sonic Drift 2 uses sprites to emulate a 3D environment and feel. This mostly forgotten racing game is full of character and is a lot of fun, especially if you’re into the Sonic universe.

5 Master of Darkness

Commonly seen as a Castlevania clone, Master of Darkness is an enjoღyable action platformer with a dark, gothic horror atmosphere. In the game, you play as Dr. Ferdinand Social, who summons Dracula through the use of a Ouija Board. Your goal is to kill the king of the vampire♚s, as he is behind the killings in London that have been attributed to Jack the Ripper.

Master of Darkness is a fun but dꦓifficult game that portrays an eerie and dark feeling throughout the whole ex♎perience with its nicely detailed sprites depicting horrible creatures.

4 Power Strike 2

Power Strike 2 🥃is an entry into thꦐe legendary Aleste shoot em’ up series and was Developed by Compile, developers of some of the best shoot em’ up of the 80s and 90s. They were behind great games such as M.U.S.H.A. and Blazing Lazers.

Power Strike 2 is a fantastic game with great power-ups and tough gameplay, though the small screen c🧸an make playing it a little difficult. The power-ups you are given make your feel invisible. That is, however, until you reach the later stages and your skills and reflexes are put to the test.

3 Deep Duck Trouble Starring Donald Duck

Though it may be hard to believe now, Disne𝄹y games were some of the best platformers released in the 80s and 90. Games like Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey ♋Mouse, Duck Tales, and QuackShot Starring Donald Duck were some o♋f the best games on their respective systems—and Deep Duck Trouble Starring Donald Duck is no different.

Deep Duck Trouble Starring Donald Duck provides some of the best sprite work and use of color 🍃on the Game Gear, as well as some solid gameplay which all make for an easy yet fun playthrough.

2 Ax Battler: A Legend of Golden Axe

Unlike other games in the Gold Axe series, Ax Battler: A Legend of Golden Axe is actually an action platformer with RPG elements oppose to a classic beat em’ up. You ta🎉lk to villagers, save the wor༒ld, and do other typical RPG stuff.

The game is similar to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Final Fantasy in the sense that you are iღn a village or overworld, but, when you go into random battles, the game turns into a side-scrolling action platformer in which you have to defeat all of the enemies on the sc💎reen to finish the battle and return to the overworld.

1 Mega Man

The port of Mega Man on the Game Gear is not a port of the original game but is instead based on the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Nintendo Entertainment System versions of Mega Man 4 and Mega Man 5. The game features more color and slightly more detღail than the Nintendo Entertainment System games it was based on. However, the small screen makes playing it somewhat difficult.

Aside from the addition of more color and deꦺtail, it plays like a typical Nintendo Entertainment System Mega Man: jump, shoot, 🥀defeat b🎃osses, steal their powers to use against other bosses—you know, the usual.
