I’ve played more games in 2023, old and new, than I have during any other 12-month period in my life. Thankfully, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Mass Effect 3 and Batman: Arkham City, two old games I played through for the very first time, don’t qualify for Game of the Year consideration. Narrowing this list down to just ten games from this yea𒐪r has been difficult enough. I managed it though, and while the order will likely change in my head five more times between me writing this and you reading it, it’s done. It’s official. I can’t change it now. Just read it already.

This is the landing page for all the GOTY lists written by TheGamer's team. Behౠold our dazzling opinions!
10. WrestleQuest
2023 has been the busiest year for wrestling games in decades. WWE games are good again, AEW has entered the ring, yet my favorite wrestling game this year has no connection to either. Turns out I’m a little fed up with wrestling games after playing every last one of them for the past 25 years, but I’m not tired of retro-style wrestling RPGs, probably because 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:WrestleQuest is the first one I’ve ever played and it had i🎃ts hooks in me all summer lon𒁏g.
9. Pikmin 4
My only experience with Pikmin prior to 2023 was using Olimar in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Smash Bros, so naturally I didn’t think much of the series. Little did I know when I bought the game for my son, Pikmin 4 w🉐ould become one of my favorite games of the year. Collecting little plant people to join you and your alien dog in your q🌳uest to find shiny things. What’s not to love?
Every editor at TheGamer will compile their personal list of the top ten games in 2023 🐠throughouওt December. Those lists will then be compiled and a definitive TG top ten will be published on December 18.
8. Disney Illusion Island
We were spoiled when it came to 2D platformers this year, but I really didn’t expect a Disney Metroidvania to be one of my favorites. You can tell I loved it as it ranks higher than a Sonic side scroller that didn’t make the cut. I’m going to move on now before I think about it too much and put 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Sonic Superstars on here. It doesn’t deserﷺve to be in here, but I can’t be trusted.
7. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
It’s Turgle time!
6. Final Fantasy 16
It’s Torgal time!
Honorable mentions that didn't quite make the cut
5. Jusant
I have zero interest in rock climbing, but something about Jusant’s trailers pulled me in and I’m i𝓡ncredibly glad it did. Jusant might win my award for my favorite gaming experience of the year even if it doesn’t top my list of best games full stop. I played it from start to finish in a single sitting, the first time I’ve done that with a game since Britney’s Dance Beat. Make of that what you will.
4. Super Mario Bros. Wonder
I was a Sonic kid in 1993 and aged 34, I’m a Sonic kid now too. But damn, nothing has made me think I was on the wrong side of history more than 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Mario Wonder. Sonic 2 remains one of my favorite games of all time, but there’s a very real chance after I’ve played it more, because I will be playing it more, Wonder will eventually surpass it. Damn it Sega, why did you t🌠hink re𝓡leasing Superstars in the same week would be a good idea?
3. Tchia
Unlike Jusant, the trailers for Tchia - and there were a lot of them - didn’t grab me. However, they did pique my interest enough to try it out though since it was available on PS Plus at launch. A fantastic game I already know has been overlooked by so many this year and I hope that changes as people catch up on what they’ve missed. A gorgeous backdrop, stunning soundtrack, and a 🐼game I couldn’t stop going back to for a large chunk of 2023.
Notice I don’t mention how relaxed and calming Tchꦑia is. 95 percent of the time it’s exactly that, but there’s a moment very early on where - spoiler alert - the big bad straight up eaꦛts a baby right in front of you. Most Jarring Video Game Moment Of The Year Goes To…
2. Spider-Man 2
Comfortably my most-anticipated game of the year and it did not disappoint. If 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Spider-Man 2 had been nothing more than the first game with web wings, I’d have been happy, but it wound up being so much more than that because come on, this is 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Insomniac, of course it did. Best of all, I still need to go back in꧟ and find the last of the Spiderbots, a moment I’ve been assured will blow my mind when I finally experience it.
1. The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom
Even if that moment is Tom Holland stepping through a portal and asking me personally to be the next Spider-Man in the MCU, there’s no closing the gulf between Spidey 2 and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Tears of the Kingdom. I started 2023 about ten hours into 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Breath of the Wild, ready to give up on it. I leave the year gushing over Tears of the Kingdom with anyone willing to talk to me about it, ranking it right up there among my favorite games ever. I quickly lost count of the number of times this game left me in awe of what its developers are capable of. An almost perfect game and comfortably the best thing I’ve played all year, although I will get back to you once I eventually find the time to play 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Baldur’s Gate 3.
