While we all love video games, it’s also not hard to admit that some of our favorite series could definitely use a reboot. After all, giving a great idea a fresh coat of paint is the very thing that gave us everyone's favorite perpetually disappointed video game dad, Kratos.
Needing a reboot isn’t suggesting that a series is dead or unsuccessful, but instead, that a reset of mechanics, lore, or even playstyle would take things from two-thumbs-up cool to rainbows-waterfalling-out-of-your-mouth amazing. Reboots may not al𒀰ways work, but theဣy’re always worth a try, especially if the series has already tried something similar in the past.
10 ඣ 🧔 Resident Evil
Some people will call the remakes a kind of reboot, but that’s not the reboot I’m looking for. Realistically, the series should have been rebooted totally once 168澳洲幸运♒5开奖网:Chris became a bould🐎er-punching action hero who is capable of standing in ♚an active volcano without breaking a sweat, let alone dying immediately.
There is a certain campy charm to the action-packed direction 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Resident Evil has gone in, and the remakes and first-person games have helped to bring back some horror, but the characters are just too weighted down by lore, even in remakes. Let’s just reset 🎐ꦫthe lore entirely and go back to that creepy mansion.
9 🌃 Metal Gear
If you asked me to tell you exactly what is going on in the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Metal Gear lore, I honestly couldn’t even begin to try. Everything has beco﷽me so convoluted thanks to the movie-like presentation, and apparܫently, there are even canon zombie infections.
The series can still be ridiculous; I’m not one to take away that beautiful rocket jump. But going back to basics would probably help things quite a bit. A lore reset would be great for bringing a new audience into what is currently a daunting universe, and the games wouldn't need to change much.
8 Mega Man
168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Every single Mega Man series could use a reboot, so really you have your choice as to which one you’d prefer. There are just so many games in each dedicated series at this point, and, outside, of diehard Mega Man fans, no one cares about the story.
A modern first-person shooter or even a third-person Mega Man game would be incredible, ﷺand the best way to do that would be to reboot the entire franchise and tell whichever version of Mega Man’s origin for a new audience… or just give us Mega Man Legends 3.
7 🥃 Silent Hill
Is it even common knowledge that aspects of some of these games are interconnected? For a while, it actually lookedও like we were going to get a fantastic reboot of the series in some way before Kojima had the kind of ugly breakup with Konami that every couple on 90 Day Fiancé would blush at.
The identity of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Silent Hill still feels like it’s stᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚuck in the nineties, and that’s not necessarily a good thing. Updating the creepy town with some modern sensibilities might just revive the entire survival horror genre for good while allowing for a brand new take on what 🍸Silent Hill can be.
6 🌼 Castlevania ♎
A reboot of this series was attempted in 2010, but due to it feeling rather unoriginal, things didn’t go over all that well. The thing is, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:people love vampires and all the creepiness that comes with them. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Castlevania is a timelesꦐꩵs concept that deserves another shot at a reboot, I mean come on, even Twilight is being talked about for a revival, and that one has sparkling vampires.
If the Castlevania Netflix series is any indication, great stories can 𝄹still be told, especially if those in charge go back to the classics. Whip combat might be a tricky thing, but maybe♌ that just means the series should shift and give a more RPG-based approach a shot.
5 𝓡 Sonic The Hedgehog
People get really hyped for new Sonic games when they 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:are classic 2D side-scrolling action, so maybe it’s time the entire series started over. There is a ton of fascinating Sonic lore that could be used from eras past, but let's just avoid the bedtime story concept this time around.
The character runs really fast, is sassy as can be, and can literally turn super saiyan, I can’t think of anything more “kid-cool&rdquo🐈; than that. Sonic is practically beggingไ for success, but playing it too safe or swinging too wide just isn’t working for a lot of people.
4 Assassin&rsquoಌ;s Creed ⭕
At this point, it feels like we’re a thousand assassins into this series and I still don’t care about any of them. The series has taken ♒big steps to expand the gameplay, but for some, it’s strayed from the main draw, which is being a su🔯per cool assassin.
Shifting from historic setting to historic setting is nifty💦, but it really doesn’t do much to make the series a big draw outside of being reliable fun. Let me whisper sweet Italian nothings into the ears of targets once more; there’s a reason the assassins everyone remembers are Altair and Ezio.
3 🃏 𓂃 Mortal Kombat
Why not reboot 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Mortal Kombat again? Sure, the series ☂just rebooted itself in 2011 and with Mortal Kombat One, but I’m just assuming it’s going to need another reset after this game. Something about those story decisions just doesn’t end up working out for whatever reason.
Maybe a new world reset can let us see how Bo’ Rai Cho became the master of drunken fists, while also explaining how Ermac and Liu Kang have suddenly become best friends. That may sound odd, but that’s not ev♏en that out there cౠonsidering we had a zombie Liu Kang in the canon for a while.
2 Suikoden
I just need 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a modern JRPG with a roster of basically a hundred characters, because why not? There’s a lot to love about Suikoden, and it would ta﷽ke a lot of effort to modernize, but if Persona 5 can be a multi-hundred-hour game to play through, I think a new Suikoden game could get away with it.
Heck, throw in some Persona mechanics to spice things up and foster relationships between the characters.꧑ If you’re building an army, the l꧅east the game could do is let you make all your shipping dreams come true.
1 🐽 Borderlands ꧒
This might be one of the more called-for reboots I’ve personally heard people talking about. Despite telling a funny sci-fi story, the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Borderlands universe has begun to f𓂃eel really stale, and a lot of that has been due to some big misses with ch♓aracters.
The series has lost a bit of charm, so a total re♏boot of the looter-shooter could be just what is needed. It would probably work too, becaus✃e the series is just meta enough to call out the fact that it’s being rebooted through those screechy Psycho dialogue lines.
