Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon has its first teaser, as well as confirmation that the serieไs will debut on HBꦅO in 2022.
Game of Thrones fans have now had well over two years to digest the events of the final season. Suffice to say, it didn't live up to the hype for a lot of people, and quite a few die-hard fans are still pretty angry about it. Demands to remake the final season will never be satisfied, and the only thing those of you still upset about how Game of Thrones ended have to cling to TV-wise is the imminent arrival of House of the Dragon.
House of the Dragon is a prequel to Game of Thrones and its very first teaser trailer is officially here. The trailer, which closed out HBO Max's European Launch event, gives fans a closer look at some all-new Targaryens. Or perhaps that should be old Targaryens since the prequel is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones.
Even though House of the Dragon happens two centuries before what we know so far, its first trailer shows it will still feel a lot like the iconic series. Even the font used for its title, 🧜which flashes up at the very end, is the same one used for Game of Thrones. HBO wants it to appeal to the millions who watched Game of Thrones and obviously wants to make it clear even w🅷ith a passing glance that House of the Dragon takes place in the same universe, so it makes sense.
The show is based on George R. R. Martin's Fire & Blood and will follow the events that lead to the beginning of the end of House Targaryen. As the trailer above implies, most of the show will focus on the ancestors of Daenerys and her father Aerys, better known to Game of Thrones fans as The Mad King. A couple of Lannisters have also been cast for the show, but no mention of any representatives from House Stark just yet.
House of the Dragon will debut on HBO at some time in 2022. Today's event marked the launch of HBO Max in its very first European countries. Not many have been included in the expansion so far, but more countries are expected to get HBO Max over the course of the next year.
