After much waiting, the Abandoned Re𝔉altime Experienc♏e finally launched on PSN a few days ago, although fans are far from happy with what it contains.
The Abandoned Realtime Experience app initially l𓂃aunched with a message saying to "check back soon", which had🧸 players waiting a few days until content was finally added. No one really knew what the "realtime experience" could entail, but as it turns out it was just a five-second teaser for the game that had already been posted to Twitter earlier that day, as well as a promise of more content "coming soon".
Considering the comparisons to Kojima and Silent Hils that were taking place just a few months ago, something that the developers even played into for a time, there were a lot of people expecting big things from Abandoned. Although that level of expectation might not be realistic considering that we've barely seen anything from the game, it was at least pretty fair to expect something new from the app after so much waiting.
Reactions to the app have been incredibly negative, with many now buying into the idea that Abandoned is just an indie game with a weird development history. Others have wondered how it ever got backing from Sony and how anyone is letting this weird teasing situation continue. Twitter is full of these negative reactions to the app, and none of them speaks positively about Abandoned or the hype circle that has been surrounding it. Some fans are even joking that Kanye West's recently delayed Donda album will be released before the app has anything worthwhile.
Following the app's poor launch, many players began to point out that this isn't the first time that Blue Box Game Studios has done something like this with one of its games. and it reveals that almost none of them have actually launched, despite promises of similar real-time experience apps. Some of the games mentioned include Rewind, The Whisperer, The Haunting, and Tales of Six Swords, and none of them have seen the light of day.
