If you've ever played a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Devil May Cry game, you'll know what they're about. Devil Hunter Dante hunting down demons, having lots of family and money issues, and juggling around demons to an unnecessary degree just for fun. And his brother comes in to ruin just about everything because he's petty.

Being the true beginning of character-action games, Devil May Cry has had many successors, though few having met the same success. But a character action game is made of a great many things, both frenetic, stylish combat and a lovable character to express it through. Might be hard to match up to Dante, but it's always fun to try.

10 Bayonetta

Bayonetta in Bayonetta 2

You all saw this one coming. Directed by Hideki Kamiya, the director of the original Devil May Cry, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Bayonetta is as much a love 𒅌letter to Dev💮il May Cry as it is trying to be different in every way. You punish angels instead of demons, upbeat jazz as opposed to heavy metal. And the sultry Bayonetta versus the himbo Dante.

For any Devil May Cry fan, Bayonetta should be top of the list. It takes all the best lessons from Devil May Cry and takes them in its own directions. A stronger focus on moving around the battlefield and platforming, a large emphasis on provocative dialogue, and an almost comedic degree of fan service. It's a treasure.

9 Nioh

Nioh 2 Oni

When it comes to Soulslike games, Nioh is definitely the most well-known and one of the rare ones that truly understood the Souls formula and how to make it its own. B🐻ut how does a game like that relate to Devil May Cry exactly? Well, unlike Dark Souls, Nioh is focused on much faster movement and a depth of weapon abilities rather than a wider diversity.

On top of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:fighting dem𒀰ons from Japanese folklore, Nioh is much flashier with its combat, rewarding precise button presses and almost toying with your enemies. Nioh 2 only brings this further, giving you a form highly reminiscent of a Devil Trigger to enhance and change your abilities. It's the perfect blend of a Soulslike and character action game.

8 ♚ God Of War

Kratos ready to attack in the original God of War

Many modern hack-and-slash games claim their origins from 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:God of War. And though the most recent entry ꧒in the series has taken a marked departure from its previous style, the originals were indeed a major force for change. But more rarely acknowledged are the rather clear inspirations God of War took from Devil May Cry.

Fighting against gargantuan gods with terrifying weaponry and an encouragement to juggle enemies and play around with them to get the highest score, the comparisons are clear. God of War instead opts for larger group combat, a focus on Kratos' all-reaching strength. And though the two couldn't be more different, those foundations are what give a strong link.

7 Doom

The Doom Slayer battling demons in Doom Eternal

Same way Devil May Cry was a revolution for character action games, Doom was that for first-person shooters. Known for its speed of movement, frantic combat, and demonic enemies, it already seems like a good fit for a Devil May Cry fan. But it's the latest reboots that draw a real parallel.

First off, the higher degree of verticality adds a new layer to the combat, and the heavy music pounding in your ears may inspire visions of Devil May Cry. But more than anything, Doom and its sequel want yܫou to play around with demons. They want you gliding across the battlefield and feeling unstoppable. Doomguy may be silent, but he is very violent.

168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Marvel Vs Capcom is a lauded series, though not one without its difficulties. Continual changing of hands of the various Marvel IPs made newer games harder to make, with long breaks between new entries🌠, a♛nd Infinite notably excluding X-Men characters. But its tag-team play has always been loved and made it stand apart from others of the genre.

But how does it apply to Devil May Cry? Well starting from the obvious, Dante is in the games and has been for a while. But more than that, character action games actually pull a whole bunch from fighting g🦩ames, so this is just ♉the cycle completing. With such a high emphasis on stylish combos, it just makes sense.

5 Dante's Inferno

Dante's Inferno is a fascinating game, having made quite a splash at its release but quietly slipping away since. From the ill-fated developers of Dead Space, Dante's Inferno has the same focus on gore, with constant parallel to Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy and combo-based combat.

Funny enough, Devil May Cry has the exact same base. Though Dante's Inferno pulls much more from games like God of War, they have a protagonist with the same name, the same characters in many aspects. They literally pull from the same story. More than anything, it's pretty funny to see such different adaptations of one work in the same genre.

4 Dragon's Dogma

10 Dragon's Dogma

To be direct, there is simply nothing like 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dragon's Dogma. From the director of Devil May Cry 3, 4, and 5, Itsuno had the idea for Dragon's Dogma since 2000, not getting a chance to create it until 2012. Featuring an open world inspired by Western RPGs and a DnD-esque party system, Dragon's Dogma is truly the sum of its parts.

Something frankly no other open-world game has is combat with such depth, and also such environmental interaction. The combat promotes playing with enemies 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:but also your build itself. Its many classes all play dramatically differently, and your pawns learn from you. If you wanted an open-world Devil May Cry, this is the best you're going to get, and it's pretty great.

3 ♕ Resident Evil 4

Leon Kennedy from Resident Evil 4

The actual history of Devil May Cry is pretty interesting. Following the reaction to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Resident Evil 3, Capcom wanted to take the series in a new direction. And though 🤡that eventually evolved into Resident Evil 4, Devil May Cry was actually the original prototype before becoming a new game in its own right.

If you've played either game, you'll see the similarities. The dark, gothic castles. The middle-parted hair. The witty protagonist who's maybe just an idiot. And while Devil May Cry is heavy on its combat, Resident Evil 4 is no slouch, letting Leon suplex enemies just for fun. Outside of it just being a great game, the shared history makes it an excellent journey to play.

2 Vanquish

4 Vanquish

Like everything involving Capcom and Platinum, Vanquish has a funny history behind it. Though stated as being developed by Platinum, Vanquish was actually created by Shinji MIkami, director of Resident Evil 4, with a small team under Platinum. Though you might not see it, much of Vanquish is an evolution of Mikami's work on 4.

Vanquish is the closest a third-person shooter has gotten to a character-action game and does it succeed. It has its pitfalls of course like a poor story and at times boring enemy design, but absolutely nothing beats the adrenaline you get from smoking a cigarette in cover before sliding across the battlefield with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:such speed enemies don't even see you coming. And honestly? Sam Gideon's cocky wit is enough to challenge Dante.

1 Shin Megaꦕmi Tensei 3 🌞

The demi-human on the cover sat down with the "Featuring Dante From The Devil May Cry Series" sticker to the left

Featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Shin Megami Tensei 3 is a wondrous thing. Perhaps the most celebrated of the Shin Megami Tensei games, it has you playing as the Demi-Human and your party of familiar d𒉰emons across turn-based battles. And for some reason, Devil May Cry 2 Dante is canonically here to stop you.

See, many of the Devil Trigger designs in Devil May Cry were actually made by Atlus designer Kazuma Kaneko, so this appearance is just a fair trade. But well, it is both odd and perfectly fitting to see the famed devil hunter here. Sure, the gameplay of Shin Megami Tensei bears no similarity to Devil May Cry, but such a scenario isn't one to miss.
