Slay the Spire was always going to be first on this list. Slay the Spire is a game where you start with part of a deck, and add more cards to it the higher you climb, with new permanent cards and abilit🍬ies unlocked along the way.
There are multiple playable characters, like Loop Hero, and the bosses in both games are truly challenging. While their general found𓂃ation is pretty different, we found ourselves getting similar vibes from Loop Hero almost immedไiately.
9 🍸 Faste🍰r Than Light & Into The Breach
If you’re looking for games where masterful control of the battlefield is part of the core design, look no further than both Faster Than Light168澳洲幸运5开奖网: and Into the Breach, both of which were made by Subset Games. Both titles are highly tactical experiences where players will have to make a variety of tough choices outside of battle and then even har🎉der decisions in-battle.

The gameplay follows your standard roguelike formula of entire floors to explore with each combat room “locking” you in until the enemies are defeated.
But, the main difference is that time only moves when you move in Crown Trick, so it has the appearance of real-time combat, but the actual mechanics of a turn-based game. If you’re looking for 🧸another completely unique roguelike to play, Crown Trick is also absolutely worth your time.
7 Hand of Fate 1 & 2 🍬
Hand of Fate and its sequel Hand of Fate 2 are likely the two oldest games on this list, but they were never quite as popular as they deserved to ꦛbe. In these games, you build a deck, just like most of the games we’ve talked about up until now. But, rather than “attacks”, your deck c🥃onsists of items and curses.
And, the items you put in your deck aren’t “given” to you at the start, but are rather found throughout the rooms that materialize as the card-game unfolds. These games are such a unique blend of a table-based CCG and a dungeon crawler, and the emphasis on your deck choice going into it feels a lot like🧸 Loop Hero in some ways.
6 🤪 Bloons Tower Defense 6
We’re betting you weren’t expecting a Bloons game to show up on this list if you even know what the Bloons franchise is. Basically, they’re a series of Tower-Defense games where you place a variety of different monkeys that stop balloons or “bloons” from getting through the course. Sounds weird, there’s🔯 no doubt about that, but these games are some of the biggest time-sinks out there, and there are so many of them!
Bloons TD6 is the newest one, and likely one of the largest in terms of maps, types of monkeys, and overall content to experience. Dicey Dungeon💝s is anothe🍌r truly unique dungeon crawler roguelike that should’ve gained more popularity than it did. But, instead of cards, this♛ one is all about Dice. Basically, you’ll pick from a series of characters such as a Warrior, a Witch, an Inventor, and so on who have all been turned into sentient dice-like mascots. You’ll climb through multiple levels of this “game show” dungeon, fighting enemies, gaining new gear, and leveling up along the way to winning each character’s deepest “desire”.
Ev𝄹ery single character, Gadget, and ability has to do with rolling dice in some incredibly inventive ways, which really feels refreshing if you’re done with deck builders. And, the amount of replayability for such a simple concept definitely puts it up there with Loop Hero.
4 ꦏ For The King ꦫ
For the Kiಞng is another game with exponential difficulty, similar to Loop Hero, that gets pretty absurdly hard near the end of a run. But, when you start, it’s an adorable hex-grid structured adventure set up to look like you’re exploring the world’s most expensive tabletop board game.
For The King has a lot of random events, random encounters, skill checks, and more. Plus, both games have a narrative about stopping/escaping somไe great calamity. Though, the one thing that really separates it from Loop Hero 🗹is the multiplayer aspect, which is something rarely seen in this genre anymore.
3 ꦛ ꦺ Darkest Dungeon
Of course, Darkest Dungeon was going to be on here. What other roguelike out there could even compare to Loop Hero’s pessimistic tone other than Darkest Dungeon? Other than its atmosphere, Darkest Dungeon is honestly a pretty different game from Loop Hero, one where you🃏’ll be constantly scraping by, just barely surviving.
The ramping difficulty, seemingly impossible (at first) boss fights, and base-building mechanics are all just similar enough to Loop Hero that we think fans of either game could enjoy. Sure, Darkest Duꦡngeon spe🤡nt a long while in Early Access, but the final🐬 product was well wo⛦rth it in our opinion.
2 𝓀 Gordian Quest 🥀
Then there’s Gordian Quest, an early access game that came out around this time last year. It’s unabashedly taking a much heavier amount of inspiration from Slay The Spire mechanically, but it𒁃 innovates on it enough that the two games feel like separate experiences.
Gordian Quest has most of what you loved about StS, but 🐈also includes teamwork combat aspects, a more complex storyline, more playable characters, and a bꦿigger map. It’s a bit of a rougher game, it is early access after all, but the overwhelmingly positive reviews should let you know that this deck builder roguelike is still well worth your investment.

First of all, both Loop Hero and Ring of Pain share a circular core concept, so they’re already relatively alike. But, Ring of Pain’s fast pace, c🍨hoose-your-own-difficulty design, and nihilistic art style matches perfectly with Loop Hero in a lot of ways as well.
Ring of Pain runs is luckily faster than Loop Hero expeditions, lasting only maybe 40 minutes for a complete run and 3🎃 minutes for a bad run. But, both games have a deeply addicting design that will have you st🅘uck in a constant trap of “just one more run”.
