Since May 1996, Game𝓀spot has been one of the premier destinations for gaming news and reviews. The sheer amount of coverage they have given to the industry over this time is simply staggering, and there are few publications whose opinions hold as much weight as theirs.
In fact, only 15 games have ever been given the honor of scoring a perfect 10 by their reviewers. Whether it be a grand reinvention of a classic series or an indie charmer too good to be ignored, Gꦡamespot is willing to honor earned per💜fection when it comes along.
These are the 🙈games that scored a perfect 10 🦄from Gamespot.
15 𝕴 Chrono Cross 💯
The sequel-but-not to the legendary Chrono Trigger fell short of matching the charm an☂d style of its predecessor, but Gamespot looked past its short🍸comings to award the JRPG a perfect score.
Praising the game’s battle system, large cast and visual style, Chrono Cross also got a lot of praise for just not being another Final Fantasy game.
Chrono Cross was🎃 a widely c🐲elebrated title upon release and was rightfully honored as a masterpiece of gaming.
14 𝓀Divinity Original Sin II
Celebrated as one of the greatest RPGs of all time after its initial release and showered with multiple awards, Divinity: Original Sin II was praise🍒d for firing on all cyliꦍnders regarding the story, massive scale, combat mechanics and overall presentation.
It is no surprise that it became the mo💧st recent recipient of Gamespot’s perfect score while calling it an “instant classic” and “one of the finest games of recent years” in its glowing review.
13 ꦰ 🧔 Super Mario Galaxy 2
Continuing Mario’s cosmic adventures, Super Mario Galaxy 2 added more power-ups, progressively challenging levels and another memorable entry in the Super Mario series.
Improving on the original Galaxy in every way, Galaxy 2 hit all the right notes for fans both young and old. Though Mario was no longer stomping arou💧nd the Mushroom Kingdom, his final adventure in space was one of the best games for the Wii.
12 𝐆 Super Mario Odyssey 👍
Usurping Super Mario 64 as the undisputed best game of the series, Super Mario Odyssey took Mario into new territory and didn’t miss a beat. This reinvention of the franchise preserved all the things that made previous Mario games great and put it in the sandbox platformer.
Gamespot honored this game with a perfect 10 and many should have seen it coming, especially when𝓰 another Nintendo franchise had already taken a massive step in reinventing it✤self with similar success.
11 ✨ Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild ൲
Breath of the Wild is one of the most beautiful and immersive games of the modern era and elevated the already high standards of The Legend of Zelda series. Link’s survival in the wilderness of Hyrule a🥂nd beyond was also lauded for its intricate combat system and sense of exploration.
Not only is it the most ambitious Zelda game to date but it isn’t outside of the argument that this is 🅷the best. The other game in that argument also received a perfect 10 from Gam🍒espot.
10 Legend of Ze♛lda: Ocarina of 🧔Time
It goes without saying that Ocarina of Time is a game so impactful that it often makes the shortlist when discussing the greatest games of all time. A masterpiece upon its release on the Nintendo 64, Ocarina hit all t൩he righ🅺t notes making a perfect score almost elementary.
Though it may seem that Shigeru Miyamoto’s games take up a large portion of perfect honors, ano𒅌ther legend of the industry also takes multiple honors in regards to perfection.
9 𝕴 👍 Metal Gear Solid IV
Solid Snake’s final adventure in Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots was one for the ages. Pushing the PlayStation 3 to its absolute limits and giving fans of the Metal Gear series more than what they hoped for, Guns of the Patriots was a fitting end to one of the most celebrated🌠 series in gaming.
Where Guns of the Patriots saw Snake’s departure, Hideo Kojima’s swan song to the series💟 would also yield a coveted 10 from Gamespot.
8 😼 Metal Gear Solid V
Guns of the Patriots finished Solid Snake’s story, but The Phantom Pain wraps up the story of Big Boss and puts in motion the events leading to his turn as a villain in the original Metal Gear. Incorporating sandbox gameplay and a unique online experience, The Phantom Pain was an excellent send-off to the series.
Though some have qualms on the game’s controversial ending, it doesn’t take away from the immersive experience that stands as oneꦬ of the best of its generation.
7 💝 Uncharted 4 🐟
The globe-trotting adventures of Nathan Drake were told brilliantly across the previous three Uncharted games, but Naughty Dog saved the best for last in Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End.
Brought back into the fold by his long-lost brother, Drake sets out in search of the lost pirate city of Libertatia. Uncharted’s final chapter was a beauℱtiful, action-packed story that wrapped up the series in grand fashion with an effort meritorious of a coveted perfect 10.
6 Journey
Perhaps one of the most beautiful and emotional experiences of the medium, indie darling Journey is one of the very 🍰few games that could be considered a work of art. As players traverse through a dessert accompanied by a randomly designated partner, the visual adventure is supported by an incredible soundtrack.
Journey 🌳nearly received a perfect score on its original release for the PlayStation 3 but the PlayStation 4 remaster is considered the definitive version of the game and scored a perfect 10.
