is kind of a big deal. The original game's success launched the brand into its role as the defining FPS while also establishing a yearly game model. While the series continued to be a financial juggernaut, more casual fans left over time due to franchise fatigue. This new Modern Warfare is a reimagining of the game that started it all, with the o🦋riginal developers on board, so Activision went all in to win back old fans. This included a series of big launch events done in collaboration with GameStop.

GameStop has hosted midnight launches for years now. A Modern Warfare midnight launch was guaranteed. However, Call of Duty publisher Activision wanted it to be more than just people lining up and maybe getting a neat pin for pre-ordering. To make the launch memorable, Activision teamed up with GameStop to transform t💖he West Hollywood store into MWS🍎top.

This military makeover included sandbags, soldiers, and stars. Gaming industry stars, that is. Directors from Modern Warfare d💃eveloper Infinity Ward showed up to take part in a livestream Q&A. This show took place right up until the game's midnight release and was broadcast to every GameStop in the US. OpTic Gaming, one of the first-ever Call of Duty League teams, was also on hand to gr𝔍eet fans and sign posters.

The event also had an interactive photo station where fans could green screen themselves into one of the battlefields from the game. Finally, there were gaming stations where one could actually play Modern Warfare. A pillar don♎ned👍 with televisions offered the campaign, and a wall allowed fans to test their skills against one another in the new 2v2 multiplayer mode.

Overall the event seemed to be a success, as the game seems to be generating great hype. Even one of TheGamer's writers admits this game is making him come back to Call of Duty after a long absence. Hype usually means sales. Activision and GameStop will need those sales after pouring money into MWStop and similar events in other stꦯores.

Side note: Apparently the building that GameStop West Hollywood is leased in had to send workers to remove a tall window in order to make room for that "crashed truck." MWStop was set to end on Saturday the 26th, meaning it lasted about two and a half days. That's a big move for such a relatively short event. Gotta love that Call of Duty marketing budget.
