GameStop Is Working To Make Things Right For Those Affected

In a bid to seemingly speed up the checkout process, GameStop employees stapled the receipt to the console box itself, assuming 𓄧nothing bad could happen. However, because the console itself is right behind the cardboard, the staples from the receipt ended up piercing through, causing the screen to have puncture marks.

Naturally, the debacle immediately became a major talking point, especially given just how hard it was to get a pre-order in the first place. That said, according to one customer, GameStop has replacement consoles being ship𒁏ped in.

As for why a stapler was used in the first place, the custo💙mer reported that a store associate told them that with a non-functioning AC, they were advised to staple receipts to tღhe box instead of using tape that could peel off.

For its part, GameStop took to social media to say that it had "addressed" the issue, which is reportedly isolated to one store. "Staplers have been confiscate💧d," the post 🧸concluded.

It's obviously an extremely unfortunate situation that seemingly wasn't done out of malice. Here's hoping that those impacted can get their new console quickly, and those employees face no repercus💜sions.
