That thing that looks like a wrestler’s speedo on Machok𝓀e and Machamp? That’s not underpants.
Look, there’s really no good way of appro🉐aching this topi🉐c, so we’re just going to barrel into it head-on. Those black shorts/speedos that classic fighting-type Pokémon Machoke and Machamp wear? Those aren’t garments.
That’s actually the Pokémon’s skin.
We’ll just let that s💯ink in for a moment. When you’re ready, come back for the whole story. We🐽’ll wait.
...
Done vomiting? Then let us continue.
Yes, it’s true, we’ve been looking at the completely naked forms of bot🌠h Machoke and Machamp since the very beginning. The black markings that resemble the tight fabric worn by professional wrestlers are in fact just portions of the Pokémon’s epidermis that happen to be blaℱck. And feel like spandex. Don't ask how we know that.
We know this for a fact since during the 20th-anniversary celebration of Pokémon, the official site actually started releasing unknown tidbits about everyone’s favorite fighting monsters. To do it, the official Pokémon site created a fictional Kairicky (t💟he Japanese name for Machamp) Gym and gave it a fictional gym leader named Sayaka.
Sayaka knows everything about the Mac♐hop, Machoke, and Machamp evolutionary line, and just couldn’t wait to burst everyone's bubble.

With translation from , we 🍨get this bombshell announcement:
“It may look like Machoke and🌱 Machamp are wearing underwear, but they’re actually not wearing anything. What looks like underwear is just a pattern. After all, Pokémဣon don’t wear clothes to begin with, right?”
If that wasn’t enough, Sayaka also went on to describe how to tell the difference between a male♊ and female Machamp.
“People often say that they caꦍn’t tell the difference between male and female Machamps, but the Pokémon themselves know. Try taking a closer look…you can’t tell the difference aft♔er all?” It looks like it's all in the chin, though there may be other tells.
We do have one piece of good news to help relieve the horrors that we’ve just unleashed. The belt that sits right above the dark, spandex-like patch of groin skin is, in fact, a belt. Descriptions for Machoke in both Pokémon Red and Blue confirm that it is a “power belt” meant to “holdไ back its en꧟ergy.”
Even still, we’re pretty sureဣ if Machamp were to ever drop that belt, that black patch of skin would also plummet to the floor and make for a very embarrassed Pokémon.
