Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford revealed on Twitter that the Borderlands movie now has a director.

Unbelievably, the Borderlands movie is still in development. When we found out about it last year, it all sounded too awful to be true. It’s not so bad that they’re making a Borderlands film--168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Borderlands sounds like a great game to turn into a movie. It’s just that the plot was so far removed from anything found in Borderlands that it all sounded horrible.

Instead of being a Siren with fantastic mystical powers, Lilith is a thief hired to rescue Tiny Tina, the foul-mouthed daughter of the president of Atlas Corporation. Krieg is Tiny Tina's bodyguard instead of an insane Psycho, and Claptrap is just there for soꦉme reason. Which all sounds nothing like the actual games except for Claptrap, who really is just there to be a mascot.

Fast forward to toda♔y when Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford tweeted out that the movie now has a director. Eli Roth has apparently signed on to d👍irect according to a now-deleted tweet, but was fast enough on the draw to snag a screenshot.

"I'm very excited to welcome Eli Roth as Director of the Borderlands movie in development with Lionsgate and Arad Productions," Pitchford wrote online. "Please welcome @EliRoth to the team and be sure to catch the @GearboxOfficial Mai♈n Theatre Show at #PAXEast on 2/27 to learn more."

That tweet has since been removed, so maybe Pitchford was supposed to reveal that info at PAX East ratheܫr than today on Twitter?

As for Roth, Borderlands could do worse. He's mostly known for directing horror films like Cabin Fever and Hostel, but recently he's started branching out into other genres like PG-rated The House with a Clock in Its Walls and the action-thriller Death Wish.

Roth is known for including a lot of gore in his movies, so maybe this means Borderlands is going to have as many severed human bodꦰy parts as it does in the games.

We still don’t have a trailer or a release date, so there’s still a very good chance this film will never see the light of day. If Roth truly has signed on, hopefully he’ll rewrite the script so that it at least vaguely resembles Borderlands as we know it.
