10 10. ꦬPro: Bleed Damage

Bleed damage is practically a luxury in horde mode. Not every character has it and fewer characters can capitalize on it reliably. Kait is, fortunately, one of them though. She has a couple of skill cꩲards that not only reliably cause bleeding but also increase her damage output with shotguns while enemies are bleeding.

Negating enemy armor is also another nice benefit of bleed damage. For some of the more tedious enemies such as wardens and matriarchs, bleed damage can shred through their health without conce😼rning yourself with hitting their weak spots.

9 9. Con: Effective Range 🌃

Since Kait has skill cards that cause bleed damage with shotguns, it’s not uncommon💟 to roll with a double shotgun set up in horde. It makes too much sense not to. As you can probably imagine, carrying two shotguns does limit Kait in the range department. While the overkill does have considerably better range than the gnasher, trying to find a consistent amount of ranged damage with either weapon can be a bit of a struggle, especially when you want to c♎onserve ammo for the close-range threats.

Of course, it isn’t like Kait is restricted to just using shotguns. But when you need that bleed🎃 damage, and you’re gonna need it a good chunk of the time, it’s usually shotguns or nothing in more demanding games.

8 🌄 8. Pro: Autonomy 🅺

Freedom of play is something that can be easily punished in a demanding horde match for most 🧸characters. Enemies practically become one-shot champions from across the map with basically any weapon. It’s just nothing you ever want to mess with unless you potentially want to doom the entire match.

Luckily, Kait has a get out of jail free card with her ultimate. Her cloak can facilitate a safe return to the rest of your team when attempting a flank. This is something few other characters cꦏan actually guarantee. It’s not a 100% guarantee, but it at least gives you the option of playing further from the safe confines of your team base if you’re smart, which can feel liberating.

7 7. Con: Some Kills Aren’t Guarant🤪eed

Shotgun bleed damage is a very strong asset in horde, but it isn’t perf༺ect. While you can kill most enemies with bleed damage, drone-type enemies like Grenadiers, Snipers and regular Drones will just enter a DBNO state. Of course, on high-difficulty horde, you have the modifier that makes enemies immune to all damage except for explosives, headshots or executions while they’re DBNO. And you often aren't in optimal range for an instant shotgun gib because most enemies are dangerous at any range, regardless of their weapon.

Executions could get you downed before you know it in some situations. Drones usually🐼 hide their head from you at most angles as well. This can make it a little tricky t🐓o actually finish them off without being punished or committing more resources as Kait when stacked up to the rest of her immediate capabilities.

6 6. Pro: Resource Relief ✅

So🍰me characters often need a fair amount of resources to be consistently effective. A J🧸D practically requires a weapons locker full of Lancer GLs. The engineer needs a steady supply of power. At minimum, all a Kait needs is ammo pickups so that she never runs out of shotgun ammo.

It can be argued that she doesn’t even need a dedicated weapons locker once the game gets rolling. The s𒅌hotgun bleed damage can often save on ammo and both shotguns are semi-common drops from enemies. Kait is a character that doesn’t really need a lot of resources fed to her regularly compared to other characters.

5 5. 🔥Con: Easily Punished

Kait is a real risk/reward-style character. Getting a few execution kills with the cloak can feel really good. Then the cloak runs out before you can get back to safety and you're bopped i🌄nstantly which doesn't feel good. While any player on any character can be punished for their hubris in this mode, it’s especially so for Kait since she’s m𓄧ost effective with the double shotgun loadout and the cloak.

But finding theꩵ right angle and distance for that double shotgun loadout can be frustrating on so👍me maps as opposed to firing away with any kind of rifle at a safe distance. Often, you have to wait for specific enemies to come to you to maximize that bleed damage. And you should always have a plan before using the cloak or else you might be wasting it. Stepping out beyond your defensive line to maximize shotgun damage without the cloak to fall back on can get you into trouble.

4 𝐆 🎶 4. Pro: Simplicity

Kait is a rather simple character with few responsibilities compared to other characters in horde. All you really need to understand is that your bleed damage isಞ valued over almost anything else. There aren’t really any other deeper techniques here besides just finding ways to move into position comfortably. Just swap the retro lancer with an overkill shotgun and watch your ammo.

Kait can’t build any fortifications, so there’s little reason to play backseat engineer or horde unreasonable amounts of power. You also don’t need to execute some ridiculous suicide technique that allowsꦬ you to clone weapons like JD. Just put down the damage, col🔯lect power and use camouflage at the right times and you’re good.

3 3. Con:🐓 Little Room To Experime🥃nt

Kait’s value is derived mostly from her bleed damage. Without it, she wouldn’t be nearly as effective. This means that at least 2 of your 5 avail✤able skill card slots will be taken up by her bleed damage cards. The majority of her other cards don’t really synergize all that well together to make a serviceable build without needing to remove at least one of the bleed damage cards. And one without the other just means a significant damage drop for no good reasoꦓn.

This leaves very little wiggle room for experimenting. 🌞Going for a wholly stim-driven build means getting maximum value out of every single cloak you get which can be tough and just not viable long term. Meanwhile, other semi-sort-of useful cards like the overkill cards and custom gnasher just reinforce the shotgun loadout.

2 2. Pro:🎐 Last Man Standing Factor

Kait’s ultimate can be one of the more impactful ones in the right situation. While getting a few executions in the middle of a wave might not always make a difference, being able to pick u💮p teammates in the middle of crossfire can be a huge boon.

As soon as camouflage is𝔉 activated, enemies immediately ignore Kait. As long as you don’t walk directly in front of a drone as they’re firing, you’re free to go just about anywhere. As Kait, if you happen to be the last man standing, a 🔥good defensive cloak has the chance of single-handedly saving the squad.

1 1. Con: Low Shield Break ꦅ

While there’s essentially only one 🐷enemy type in horde that sports a destroyable shield, it’s probably one of the most annoying and dangerous enemies in the game. Against guardians/sentinels, Kait can have a tough time. Not only does she have to get uncomfortably close to the one-shotting scoundrels, but the s𝐆hield can also be a problem when running with shotguns.

Bleed damage is otherwise ineffective on shields, so you’ll be wasting ammo trying to shoot the shield if the rest of the team isn’t also focusing the enemy. You’ll either have to swap t♊o the talon, grab a more reliable shield breaking weapon 𒆙or try to outmaneuver the OP flying trash heap if you’re brave enough.
