The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department has reportedly identified two of the persons of interest allegedly involved in the theft of $3♊00,000 worth of🔜 TCG cards from Gen Con 2023 as board game designers.
Just a few weeks ago, it was reported that at least $300,000 worth of trading card game cards had been stolen from this year's Gen Con, which took place in the Indiana Convention Center. Security camera footage obtained by the IMPD highlighted two at-the-time unidentified persons of interest who appeared to be involved in the theft, as the footage seemingly showed the pair carrying a pallet of TCG cards out of the convention centre before the stalls had been set up.
Following the theft, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police♏ Department shared photographs from the security camera footage and asked for help finding the two pe✃rsons of interest. , , who are both board game designers.
Evidence collected by the police suggests that Dunbar and Giaume were in attendance at Gen Con 2023, possibly to sell their original board game, Castle Assault, which, , was successfully and seemed to be fairly popular at the time. , the board game was even present at numerous Gen Con conventions over the years, although the pair reportedly haven't worked on any new games since.
The security camera footage taken from Gen Con shows that one of the men (assumed to be Dunbar) wearing a dark t-shirt that appears to have the Castle Assault logo and key art on the back. Since the footage was taken on August 1, two days before the theft took place, it's possible that Dunbar and Giaume were working at Gen Con to sell Castle Assault, although this hasn't yet been confirmed.
Another photo shared by the IMPD that seems to link the two to the Gen Con theft shows both Dunbar and Giaume in front of Castle Assault's playmat, with the game's crossed sword logo appearing behind them in the background. The photo isn't dated and can't be confirmed to be from Gen Con 2023, but the logo appearing on the wall and on one of the pair's t-shirts seemingly ties the two to the case as persons of interest.
