As the leader of the Japanese rebellion against the Mongol invasion, as well as his high standing position on the island of Tsushima, Lord Shimura has some big shoes to fill in the story of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Ghost of Tsushima. As Jin's uncle, he acts as the main person in his life that the Ghost looks up to, and is the closest thing he has to a father after the loss of his own paꦺrents.
While Shimura is a main character and driving force in much of the story, he i꧟sn't seen as much as the likes of Yuna, Masako, or Sensei Ishikawa, ಌand as such, there are many aspects of his character that can fly under the radar if players aren't paying attention.
10 💜 His Full Name
Unlike most of the other characters in Ghost of Tsushima, Shimura is only ever referred to by his title🍎s, or Uncle in Jin's case. Although he isn't the only char𓆉acter to not have their given name revealed, his is one of the more prolific since his role in Jin's life and in the Mongol invasion is central to the plot. This could likely be due to his high ranking status on Tsushima, as well as the fact that he has no direct relatives left alive who might refer to him by his given name.
9 Eric Steꦏinberg
Although the creative team behind 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Ghost of Tsushima took several creative liberties when it came to the portrayal of the main cast, most of the characters are modeled after the English voice actors who play them. In Shimura's case, he is modeled after Eric Steinberg, who is mostly known these days for his roles in Pretty Little Liars as Emily's father and Commander Gor in Supergirl, though his credited roles in both film and television are extꦐensive.
8 ♍ ⭕ Akio Otsuka
As Ghost of Tsushima is set in Japan during a major part of its his⛄tory, it's only fitting that players are given the option to play through the game with the characters all speaking their native language. In Shimura's case, his Japanese voice is played by prolific Japanese voice actor Akio Otsuka.
Although many English speaking fans may not recognize him by name, many will instantly recognize the roles he has played in the past. Arguably his biggest video game roles have been playing Solid Snake in the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Metal Gear Solid series and as both Ansem and Xehanort in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Kingdom Hearts, while he has also had a long-running role as Batou in the Ghost in the Shell series.
7 The Proposedꦏ Adop🌄tion
This aspect of his character may seem foreign to most of the western audience who have played Ghost of Tsushima, but the idea of adopting sons to continue on the family name was a lo🌳ng-running tradition in Japanese culture and is still somewhat implemented today, though nowhere near as often. As many noble family's survival also meant the survival of all the lower families who served under them, it was important to find any means necessary of continuing on the family name so they would still be supported by the Shogunate and෴ the Emperor.
6 The Jito
Although he was the leader of the Japanese rebe💎llion, Shimura's official role was as jito of the island of Tsushima. Although his position over the citizens of his island home is mentioned from time to time, his actual job title is never really expanded upon. In a nutshell, Shimura is the landlord responsible for ensuring the people pay their taxes to the Shogunate, and that theirꦓ farms and livelihoods are serving the country to its fullest capacity. This is the main reason why many of the outlaw characters like Yuna find themselves in conflict with Shimura, since their opposing lifestyles directly affect one another.
5 🧜 His Guiding Role
There are many guiding aspects present in Ghost of Tsushima, with the most notable being the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:guiding wind, ♉which is implied to be a symbolic expression of Jin's father, Kasumasa. This isn't the only༒ guide he has on his journey, as the yellow songbird that takes Jin to the various side activities is implied to be his mother, Lady Sakai. While Shimura's guiding role isn't as symbolic as Jin's parents, he still plays a large part in trying to guide his nephew back to the ways of the samurai, though he is unsuccessful in making sure he maintains this way of life after the battle on Komoda beach.
4 ♔ The Two Endings
After Khotan Khan is defeated and the Mongol invasion has been halted, for the time being, Shimura reveals that he has been ordered by the Shogun to take Jin's life, as his new role as the 💖Ghost threatens the status quo that the Shogunate and the Emperor have spent so much ti🐷me and effort maintaining. Although they are both resolute, neither of the men want to engage in this particular battle.
After defeating Shimura, players are given the option to either kill him or spare his life, though either way, Jin will be a wanted man for the rest of his life. While the end of the game is th⭕e same, the dye given as a reward is different depending on the ending taken. If players chose to kill Shimura, they will receive a white dye for the Ghost Armor, while if they chose to spare him, they will be given a crimson red dye instead.
3 The Black and White Symbolism ♍ 🥂
Throughout the many flashbacks players get to see of Shimura and Jin, there is a distinct black and white symbolism between the two that foreshadows their eventual conflict. Shimura, the guiding hand who wants the best for his nephew while maintaining the current regime, is usually dressed in white or light colors, while Jin, who eventually abandons his past life of honor to become Batman, wears mostly black or dark colors. This is also carried over into their final battle, where Jin🦄 wears the darker Ronin outfit and Shimura wears a much lighter outfit than he has for the majority of the game so far.
2 ☂ His Real World Counterpart 💝
Although the Mongol invasion of Japan beginning on the island of Tsushima is based on real-world history, most of the story is pre꧑sented as an alternate history surrounding the eveওnts and many of the characters have no real-world relation. Shimura, like Khotun Khan, is based on an historical figure with a different name, with his likely being Sō Sukekuni, the jito of Tsushima at the time. Unlike Shimura, who was captured following the Japanese army's defeat, Sukekuni was killed during the battle, where the army, which was only made up of 80 men, was heavily outnumbered and swiftly defeated.
1 🦩 🅰 He Is Responsible For Creating The Ghost
Though he would likely never admit it, Shimura is largely responsible for Jin becoming the titular Ghost of Tsushima. If it wasn't for him training Jin to become a samurai, as well as his capture at Komoda, it is likely that Jin would have either di𝕴ed a nobleman or gone on to join the Shogun's army on the mainland, rather than become a symbol of rebellion to the people of Japan.
