Sumalee Montano also gave Yuna her mannerisms and breathed literal life into her on-screen character by . Furthermore, Yuna's physical appearance is based on Sumalee herself.
9 Yuna's Voice Actress Brings Another Cultural Flair To The Role
One of the coolest things about Ghost of Tsushima is its dedication to Japanese history and culture. Nevertheless, it's also excellent that the game involves people whose heritage reflect other parts of Asia, with Sumalee Montano having Filipino/Thai lineage. It's great to see this diversity displayed in the casting of the voice talent.
8 Yuna's A One-Man Army
Yuna not only has the exceptional components of a great fighter under her belt, but she also had some eওxcellent strength. Yuna was tasked with carrying Jin to her home. She not only carried him but spent time nursing him to health.
That is by no means an easy task. For her to be able to d🐓𝓰o this, she has to either have superhuman strength or be constantly working out. Either way, this feat is remarkable.
7 🐷 A New Family Member In Jin
Spoiler alert for this one. During the story, Yuna undergoes an incredible tragedy. She loses the only family member that she has left. One cannot help but see that while she lost a brother, she gained another influential male figure in her life. Toward the end of the game, we can see Yuna become even more empathetic, caring, and compassionate for Jin. She ends the game reuniting with him and is concerned about his whereabouts. It's safe to assume that she likely looks at Jin like a new family member.
6 She Diverts Jin's Path
While many fans of the game like Yuna, she does have some detractors. Some may feel that she led Jin down the "path of the ghost." While Jin does make the ultimate choice to embrace "Ghost" tendencies in his fighting, Yuna does push him. She encourages Jin to let go of the type of fighting style he knows, 🤡and it ultimately leads him to b🍸e banished by his uncle. Again, Yuna does bring realism to what Jin has to do to save the island, but she is indirectly responsible for his fall from grace.
5 She Reveals That Samurai Aren't Perfect
For many parts of the game, the samurai are portrayed as warriors with exceptional character. Tไhey are the heroes. 🗹However, this view changes as we move through the game, and Yuna is a considerable part of that.
Yuna begins to talk about her and her brother's experiences in the Japanese caste system, and how Jin's uncle actually controlled Yuna's hometown. She comes to show Jin that his people are not as perfect as he thinks.
4 Jin And Yun♛a Might Never Get Together
For most of the game, it seems like Jin and Yuna teeter between being friends, and becoming more. There are moments where they look like they like one another, and there's even a missed kissing opportunity. However, she and Jin becoming a thing seems unlikely. Back in feudal Japan, samurai marriages were arranged with a noblewoman. Considering Yuna's background, it seems doubtful that they would get together. However, nothing is impossible, since Jin's samurai path takes a turn toward the end.
3 𓂃 Yuna Is One Of The Only Women Jin Is Close To ꦦ
Besides Jin's nanny, Yukiko, and Masako, the story doesn't detail other women that Jin is acquainted with. His mother passed away when he was a child, and the game doesn't reveal that he is in contact with other women who are close to him. However, it is very likely that Yuna is one of the first women that Jin relates to. Her impact on him cannot be understated, and it is striking that she has such an influence on him throughout the game.
2 ♚ Yuna Was Likely A Ninjut🏅su Master
For Yuna to teach Jin the way of the "Ghost," she would have had to be a master in the formal art of ninjutsu. In the 12th century of Japan, this type of martial arts was common Ninjitsu is the art of guerilla warfare and espionage (though Ninjutsu wasn't truly separate from Samurai methodology).
She clearly picked this up from somewhere, and she knows it well enough to teach it to Jin and help him excel at i🅠t. For her to do this, she would have been highly skilled and could have picked this up from an actual ninja.
1 Yuna's Japanese Voice Talent Is Just As Awesome As the English Version
Yuna's Japanese voice actor is Yu Mizano. In addition to taking on Yuna in Ghost of Tsushima, she lent her to Kingdom Heart III, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy III and Gintama. Much like her English counterpart, she propelled Yuna's story to resonate with Japanese-speaking fans. Fortunately, Sucker Punch knocked both iterations of the character out of the park.
