GlitchCon was ꦏheld this weekend in lieu of TwitchCon 2020, but the new event still managed to put up some impressive numbers. More than 6.7 million peopl♓e tuned in to watch the inaugural GlitchCon and maxed out with over 175K concurrent viewers.
The night started w𝄹ith an address from 🐷Twitch CEO, Emmett Shear, before passing the torch to top gamers, celebrities, and streamers. Included in the event were Zedd, JERICHO, Pokimane, and even T-Pain, who hosted a virtual afterparty.
A lot happened duringꦰ GlitchCon, but here are a few highlights if you missed out:
- Twitch donated $1 million to AbleGamers, a non-profit that provides custom gaming setups to people with disabilities
- Several streamers were surprised with their official Twitch Partnership announcement – including MiladyConfetti
- Matt Heafy saw just under 90K viewers watch is live metal performance
- Juliaaaeasttt won the Austin Talent Show, while MattZara took home the KennyBeats breats battle
A 💖bunch of new stats about Twitch were also s꧟hared during the event:
- Every month more than 1.5 billion hours of content is watched on Twitch
- More than 13 million people streamed on Twitch for the first time
- 8,550 streamers became Twitch Partners this year
- Added 548,000 Affiliates this year
- Over 850K creators make revenue from Commerce or Ads on Twitch each month
- The number of streamers who make money on Twitch doubled from 2019
There's no dဣoubt GlitchCon was a resounding success, and we're curious to see what 2021 has in store for the platform.
