He was first bestowed with the blades by the Greek gods who enslaved him before rose to power and destroyed them. Now, they're a painful reminder of his rage and bloodlust - something he fears passing on to his son.

There are a handful of new attachments that you can upgrade the blades with granting various effects on Kratos' stats and actions in combat. Like all the attachments available for gear in the game, some are obtained through simple story progression, while others must be acquired by other means. And, just like the attachments for other weaponry, there are a total of 12 for you to collect.

Steel Handles

Attachments - Steel handles

The Steel Handles are the first attachment that the pair of blades comes with. They offer a broad range of boosts and don't focus on any particular element of combat. So, obviously, they're perfect for a beginner.

When you first begin upgrading this attachment, it will boost strength stats. At level 7, you receive a boost to runic, vitality, luck, and cooldown as well.

Deadly Obsidian Handles

Attachments - Deadly Obsidian Handles

This attachment is located in a legendary chest in the Aurvangar Wetlands of Svartalfheim. If you travel to the Mystic Gateway for that location in the realm, grab a boat and headꦐ upstream to the lo𓄧cation on the map below.

Once you arrive here, there is a wooden beam on the west rock wall that you can glide und👍er in your boat. ꦅHead through it.

On the other side, dock your boat on the beach, fight whatever enemies spawn, and then head to the left of the tree stump. You'll see a wall that you can grapple with. Climb up it.

After climbing up on the ledge, head left, and you'll instantly see the legendary chest in the distance on the opposite ledge near a tent. Inside are the Deadly Obsidian Handles.

This attachment boosts strength and offers a perk called Slayer's Rage Burst. This offers a chance to grant a Rage Burst on any 🔯suꦕccessful kill with the blades.

Radiant Warden Handles

Attachments - Radiant Warden Handles

The Radiant Warden Handles are almost immediately available in the story for crafting at Brok and Sindri's shop. There's no need to seek this one out. Just have the 600 hacksilver necessa🍷ry to have the dwarves construct it for you♓.

These handles boost strength and cooldown stats. When upgraded, they also offer the Whiplash Deflection perk. This deflects incoming projectiles while Kratos is charging the Flame Whiplash (Mash triangle).

Cursed Empress Handles

Attachments - Cursed Empress Handles

The Cursed Empress Handles can be found as early in the game as your first journey through Svartalfheim. You must kill The Hateful at the local Draugr hole in order to claim them. In reality, the attachment will drop whenever you kill the first Hateful of the game, wherever that may be. But Svartalfheim is you🥂r earliest chance to do this. Head to the location on the map while exploring Svartalfheim.

When you dock at the beach near this location, you can also activate a Mystic Gateway to travel here with ease. If you're facing Sindir's shop, head down the pathway to the right.

At the end of the path, you will see a rock wall on the left you can climb up. Proceed upw𓃲ard.

Once you reach the summit, you'll be facing a watch tower. There's a wooden ramp to the left of it. Take that path, and you'll encounter the Draugr hole just around the corner. Defeat the Hateful to retrieve the Cursed Empress Handles.

This attachment boosts strength and luck. When it is upgraded you will receive the Power of the Empress perk. This offers a chance at granting strength and runic boosts on any successful hit with the blades.

Pommels Of The Undying Spark

Attachments - Pommels of the Undying Spark

This attachment can be found in the Jarnsmida Pitmines of Svartalfheim. When returning to this region, you'll have to do so through the Applecore.

Upon exiting the tunnel that connects to the Applecore region, head left toward a broken wooden bridge and jump acr🌳oss.

On the other side, continue straight ahead by veering slightly to the right where you'll find a water canal sitting on top of a turn-style mechanism. Use your blades to pull ♐the canal toward Kratos.

Then head to your left and detonate the explosive pot to clear the gold rock cluster. Then head down the path until you reach a water canal you could jump across. Do not proceed across. Pulling the wate♌r mechanism earlier is causing a crane to bring a stone block toward your location. Once it arrives, grapple and climb to the top.

Once on top of the stone, look at the water canal you manipulated earlier and toss your Leviathan Axe at the end of it to freeze the water and stop it from flowing. This will cause the crane to return to its original location bringing Kratos along for the ride.

Once the stone stops, you can grapple to a dirt ledge that is the start of a pathway. Head directly down the path to find a legendary chest at a dead end.

Inside this chest are the Pommels of the Undying Spark. This attachment boosts runic and strength with strength receiving twice the stat boost of runic with each upgrade. The Scorching Burn perk incre🅘ases the impact of burn damage o✨n enemies.

Pommels of Agile Deceit

Attachments - Pommels of Agile Deceit

The Pommels of Agile Deceit will be available for crafting following the completion of the mainline quest The Reckoning. This quest ends after returning to Brok and Sindri's house from your first major journey into Vanaheim to assist Freya with severing her⭕ connection to Odin.

This attachment bolsters strength and vitality stats. It also offers the Blade Dancer🧸 perk. This enables increase🐠d burn damage to enemies when using the Spinning Chaos and Evasive Embers attacks.

Pommels of Brutal Might

Attachments - Pommels of Brutal Might

This attachment is also available at Brok and Sindri's shop for crafting after the mainline quest The Reckoning. If you're attempting to choose between Agile Deceit and Brutal Might at this stage, just know that you're basically choosing between vitality and defense boosts respectively.

As mentioned, the Pommels of Brutal Might boost strength and defense. The perk, Seized Strength, grants added strength⛄ when stun grabbing an enemy (R3).

Hardened War Handles

Attachments - Hardened War Handles

This attachment can be found in The Forbidden Sands region of Alfheim. Head to the location as marked by Kratos' icon on the map below.

You'll note that at this location, you'll be standing in front of a rock face with an opening and lit torches inside. Head into the cave.

You'll see that there are two hanging gold structures with reflective purple crystal surfaces for your Leviathan Axe. There are also six roots that you can sever to clear away blockages. You have to sever ওeach set of three separately. In order to cut through the roots on the right side, position yourself on the left side of the cave to get a go🐓od angle. See the image below.

When those roots are cleared, grab the items in the chest that is now available. Then hit the levers on the hanging object clockwise to turn the purp🍒le surface left.

Then turn to the left and notice the other hanging object is covered in bramble. Hit the bramble with your mystic arrows to create a large aura. Then connect that aura with another on the cave wall close to Kratos so that you can ignite it with the Blades of Chaos. Do that in🎐 order to remove the bramble.

Once the bramble is cleared, turn the object so that the💖 purple reflecti🙈ve surface is facing to the right side of the cave.

Then, shift toward the middle of the cave in order to highlight a blue reflective path which indicates the axe will ricochet off the left object and hit the right object which will send it into the three roo✤ts on the left.

Once the roots are severed, you can head to the area behind where those roots were, and find the legendary chest that contains the Hardened War Handles. This attachment boosts strength, defense, and vitality. But it weighs heavily on strength. The perk, Banishing Blade, cause Hyperion Grapple and Hyperion Pull attacks to do extra damage and stun.

Pommels of Burning Unity

Attachments - Pommels of Burning Unity

The Pommels of Burning Unity can be obtained from the wishing well in The Crater region of Vanaheim. This entire area is full of optional quests, and you'll inevitably find the wishing well as you explore. See the map below for its location.

In order to obtain gifts from the wishing well, which the Pommels of Burning Unity are just one of, you must cast shards from Crystalline fragments in the well. These are orange crystals that you can shatter throughout The Crater region.

This attachment bolsters strength and runic stats. The Burning Immolation perk "increases all burn status inflicted by 15% and increases the Immolation skill charge gained whenও striking a burning enemy."

Pommels of the True Flame

Attachments - Pommels of the True Flame

These can be crafted at the Dwarven shoꦍp after the first time you aꦛrrive in Muspelheim. This is just one attachment among others for other gear that will be available at this point.

The Pommels of the True Flame boost strength, runic, and cooldown stats. Additionally, the Runic Immolation perk boosts the damage of runic atta𒅌cks when the immolation gauge is full.

Luminous Recovery Handles

Attachments - Luminous Recovery Handles

The Luminous Recover Handles can be found in a legendary chest in Nidavellir and Svartalfheim. In order to locate this chest begin near Sindri's shop in Nidavellir at the location below.

If you're facing Sindri's shop, head to the left and jump up to a ledge that leads into a tunnel Kratos w🍸ill have to crouch to pass through.

Once you emerge from the tunnel, head straight down the main path until you reach a dead end with a well nearby. On the right in the far corner, there is a beam with a spot to throw a Draupnir Spear. Toss one in there and climb up.

Immediately when you climb up, a legendary chest is on your immediate left. The Luminous Recovery Handles are inside. This attachment offers boosts to strength, cooldown, and luck stats. The Whiplash Refresh perk offers a chance at an additional cooldown boost when using Flame Whiplas🐟h🔴.

Pommels Of The Nine Realms

Attachments - Pommels of the Nine Realms

This attachment can be claimed as a reward for defeating one of the berserker gravestone bosses, Hvitserkr the Bold. He is located in Vanaheim in the Pilgrim's Landing region as seen below.

As with any of the berserker boss fights, prepare for a real challenge here. The Pommels of the Nine Realms boost runic, vitality, and luck stats. They also maintain a Momentous Shift perk that triggers a realm shift ಞwhen activating Furious Immolation while Immolation is full.
