Kratos might be a god himself, but regardless of his divine power, it's the tools of the trade that truly get the job done. His icy Leviathan Axe is a brutal, devastating weapon that's served him well since he acquired it from his wife, Faye, upon her death just before God of War (2018).

There are a total of 12 attachments available in the game for the Leviathan Axe. Each comes with its own set of perks and bonuses. Locating them might be a chore. But we've got you covered with the locations of all 12 attachments.

Wooden Knob

Attachments - Wooden Knob

This is the most basic attachment that Kratos actually begins his journey with. No need to search for the Wooden Knob as the weapon already c🌳omes packed with it from the get-go.

If you choose to focus your upgrading materials on this attachment you can receive boosts in strength and, eventually at level seven, runic, vitality, luck, and cooldown bonuses.

The Furious Maul

Attachments - The Furious Maul

The Furious Maul is yours after battling Thor in the main storyline at the start of the game. It will be a reward simply for making it through this boss battle. So, if you're already knee-deep in the game, chances are this is already in your inventory.

As expected given the attachment's name, The Furious Maul boosts strength. After the initial upgrade, a bonus perk will unlock called Slayer's Strength. This grants ꦯa "high luck chance to grant a gift of strength on ওany axe kill."

Haur's Lucky Knob

Attachments - Haur's Lucky Knob

Haur's Lucky Knob is available after the first main storyline mission Surviving Fimbulwinter. The completion of this mission occurs once you use the Yggdrasil Realm seed to unlock the Mystic Gateway access to Svartalfheim.

You'll have to visit the Dwarves in order to see this attachment available for crafting. Haur's Lucky Knob splits its bonuses between strength and luck. After the initial upgrade, the Marksman's Stun perk will unlock which enables a "moderate luck chance for any successful precision throw to cause a bonus Stun Blast."

Fortified Frost Knob

Attachments - Fortified Frost Knob

This is located in a legendary chest in the Applecore of Svartalfheim.

Map of Svartalfheim-2

This can actually be acquired during the main story mission, The Quest for Tyr. During the quest, there is a curved wooden walk that leads to a chain lever ܫthat Kratos must pull to proceed. However, the chain is blocked by green rocks that Atreus must dest🀅roy with his Sonic Arrows. Before approaching this, there is actually another path to the left along the curved wooden path.

It leads to a gap that can Kratos swing across. He'll land on a ledge he can jump down from. There is a door that leads to The Hateful Draugr hole and a legendary chest that contains the Fortified Frost Knob.

Returning To The Applecore In Case You Missed The Attachment During the Story

Ho♛wever, if you missed this treasure during that mission and are attempting to go back and collect it, you will have to do so only after acquiring the Draupnir Spear. There is a sequence during The Quest for Tyr that prevents you from trekking back through the Applecore along the same pathway you followed in that mission.

In order to reach the Applecore again, you'll have to travel by the raft affixed to the rope just Northwest of the Aurvangar Wetlands Mystic Gateway.

Following this pathway, you'll eventually reach an elevator that takes you to an underground path. If you follow the winding path to the bottom ignoring cliff ledges you can climb up or jump down along the way, you'll reach a wall that requires a Draupnir Spear in order to scale it.

At the top of the ledge, head down a corridor, and you'll find a rock on the left that can be destroyed with the Draupnir Spear. Toss one into it and detonate it.

Follow the path as it curves to the right and swing across the gap in order to climb the ledge across. Then, follow the path to a ledge with a chain that you can kick down for easy access later. Jump down and prepare to fight the fire troll Miklimunnr.

After the fight, look for a tunnel in the room that Kratos will have to crouch in order to enter. Follow that tunnel into an open area. On the right, you'll see a ledge along a wall that you can walk across. Follow that ledge.

Lift the gate on the other side and head through. Hop down from the ledge and open the door to the right. There is a Draugr hole in the center. The legendary chest containing the Fortified Frost Knob is on the ledge in the back of the room.

Stonecutter's Knob

Attachments - Stonecutter's Knob

The Stonecutter's Knob is available for you to craft after completing the sixth main quest, The Reckoning. This is complete after you defeat Nidhogg, aid Freya in her goal, and return to Atreus at Sindri and Brok's home.

The Stonecutter's Knob boosts strength and defense, though it weighs most heavily on strength which is usually twice the boost it's giving to defense. It also adds a perk called Slicing Finish upon upgrade that adds a concussive wave to the end of an Axe (R1) combo. So, that's a nice addition to an already potent combo that is bolstered by the strength bonuses of this attachment.

Grip Of Weighted Recovery

Attachments - Grip of Weighted Recover

Like the Stonecutter's Knob, the Grip Of Weighted Recovery is also available to craft after completing The Reckoning storyline mission.

It's a weapon that bolsters strength and runic stats. When upgraded it gains the Seized Refresh perk which provides an additional cooldown boost when stun-grabbing an enemy using R3. It's, perhaps, one of the more underwhelming attachments available to you for the Leviathan Axe.

Grip Of Healing Harmony

Attachments - Grip of Healing Harmony

The Grip of Healing Harmony is another Leviathan Axe attachment that is obtained by merely completing a mainline quest objective. You'll receive this attachment once you close the Hel-Tear during the twelfth storyline mission, Reunion. It 𝄹will be a reward for comp💝leting this particular objective.

This attachment bolsters strength and defense almost equally. There's even a healing factor at play as you'd expect given the attachment's name. When upgraded, the Permafrost Lifesteal perk is activated which restores health with each axe hit when the Permafrost skill gauge is full. The only caveat is that any damage you receive during this period will be increased.

Grip Of The Fallen Alchemist

Attachments - Grip of the Fallen Alchemist

This attachment is located in a legendary chest in Pilgrim's Landing, a location in Vanaheim. Head to the marker on the map below where you'll be tasked with lowering a draw bridge in order to access this legendary chest.

Map of Pilgrim's Landing in Vanaheim2

If you are facing the bridge, turn to your right, and you'll find a clasp holding a structure against a tree. Freya will probably make a comment noticing the structure as a hint.

Then, turn to the bridge and sever the clasp to the left of the bridge with a well-placed axe throw. You won't be able to free the left side because it's covered in bramble. You're going to find a way to burn the bramble away. That's our next step.

Turn back to the hanging structure you just freed from the tree. Notice that above the stone archway to the right of the structure is a lit brazer. The hanging structure 💜has two unlit brazers on 🅠it that will need to be lit. Target the bottom piece of the structure with your Blades of Chaos and swing it to the right so that the right side brazer is set aflame by the brazer above the archway.

After the right brazer 💮on the swinging structure is lit, fire multiple sigil arrows connecting the flames in the brazer on the right with the unlit brazer o🏅n the left in order to set the left side on fire.

Then, grapplꩲe the structure with your chains again and swing it left so that you can light the unlit brazer sitting on the ledge of the ruins near the red bramble.

Then aim and have Freya fire a sigil arrow at the lit brazer which will automatically connect it with the bramble setting it on fire and revealing the clasp on the right side of t♎he bridge. Hit the clasp to cause the bridge to fall enablꦓing you to cross it.

Immediately in front of you when crossing the bridge is a legendary chest that contains the Grip of the Fallen Alchemist.

The Grip of the Fallen Alchemist offers boosts to strength, vitality, and luck. Upon upgrading, the Serpent's Health Burst will be activated which offers a high luck chance to grant a health burst on any successful hit with the Serpent's Snare skill (holding R2).

Runic Hailstone Knob

Attachments - Runic Hailstone Knob

This attachment is located at the Crater area in Vanaheim and can only be obtained by throwing enough Crystalline Fragments into the wishing well. When exploring this totally optional area - which is only available after the Creatures of Prophecy main mission - you will come across Crystalline Fra𝄹gments and shards that Kratos can collect and then toss into a magical wishing well in order to claim loot and gear.

These orange Crystalline Fragments can be found scattered throughout the Crater and Jungle areas. Toss enough in and the Runic Hailstone Knob will eventually be yours.

This attachment boosts strength, runic, and luck stats. Once you upgrade the attachment, the Prey Upon Frost perk is activated offering moderate luck on boosting runic ꦦeven further when hitting a frosted enemy.

Banahogg Knob

Attachments - Banahogg Knob

This can be retrieved when heading back to the Applecore area later in the game. Follow the guide for the Fortified Frost Knob all the way until the point you reach the door to the room the attღachment is located in. From there, grapple back 🎀up the ledge on the right side of the door, and instead of going through the gate you lifted to return here, head right by grappling across the gap to the curved wooden pathway.

Head to the right ꩲaround the curved pathway until you see another wooden pathway below. Jump down and remove the obstruction under the waterway, crouch, and continue on the path.

You can ignore the troll and swing across the gap on the left with the blue glow emitting from the waters below. Jump up to the ledge on your immediate right, and head through the door in front of 🦩you slightly to your left.

Once through the door, jump up to the ledge on the left ♛and toss a spear into a♑ beam

Use the spear to jump across to a ledge where you can activate a ✅mystic gateway and lift a gate.

Lift the gate and head to your immediate left. On the left side, you will see a path between the floor and a rock wall. Crouch down into it. Upon emerging from the small tunnel, grapple up to the only ledge available and head down that pathway. You will be forced to turn right along a track and will find a rune sla🃏te, that you must activate.

Activating the rune will unveil an alcove hidden by a rock wall to the right of the slate. A legendary treasure chest is inside which contains the Banahogg Knob.

The Banahogg Knob provides strength and vitality boosts. With an upgrade, you will receive the Bare Force perk which increases damage with bare-handed attacks after prec🎃🅠ision throws of the axe.

Grip Of Radiant Reflection

Attachments - Grip of Radiant Reflection

The Grip of Radiant Reflection will be available as a crafting option after successfully completing the fourteenth mainline mission, Unlocking the Mask. This is a storyline mission where you play as Atreus who is assisting Thor in Niflheim to find a mask fragment. This mission ends when Atreus returns to Kratos at Sindri's house.

This attachment focuses on providing boosts for strength, runic, and cooldown. Although, it weighs heavily on the side of strength with boosts to runic and cooldown being less than half the strength boost is in all of its upgrades. The perk that comes along with this attachment is Precision Momentum. Successful ranged attaꦯcks now generate "a charge of the Permafrost skill" with successful precision throws "generating even more."

Grip Of The Nine Realms

Attachments - Grip of the Nine Realms

The Grip of the Nine Realms is obtained by defeating one of the optional Berserker gravestone bosses. In particular, it's Hjalti the Stolid located in Alfheim.

Map of Forbidden Sands

The attachment will be a reward for defeating Hjalti. It gives a serious but equal boost to runic, cooldown, and luck. What's even more gnarly is that when you activate Glacial Permafrost (L1 + triangle) when Permafrost is full, a Realm Shift is triggered. This is the Momentous Shift perk.
