But the Ironwood is still filled with mysteries and dangers, and Atreus is quite ready to put an end to his time here. So, you will traverse the underground pit, skip a stone or two, and maybe even face off against a giant that lives up to their name. There is a lot to explore here, and even more to miss. Thankfully, we will navigate you through the dark labyrinthine depths of the sinkhole, guide you through the colossal, dingy cellar, and make sure you don't miss any treasures along the way.

Clear The Wretches From The Sinkhole

God Of War Ragnarok, Lost Sanctuary Part 2, Cavern View

You will now be in a sinkhole fighting Wretches. Just how we wanted to spend our vacation. The goal here is to destroy four Wretch Nests. It isn't just Wretches you will fight down here; there is a fair share of Draugrs as well. While it is extremely dark down here, Angrboda will light candles to make things far more bearable as you go.

First Wretch Nest

God Of War Ragnarok, Lost Sanctuary Part 2, First Nest (Revised)

The first nest is literally unmissable, as you can't progress into the main chamber until you destroy it. There isn't much to this encounter, but do yourself a favor and focus on the nest so that you don't have to fight a couple of dozen Wretches.

Second Wretch Nest

God Of War Ragnarok, Lost Sanctuary Part 2, Chest On The Way To Second Nest

Follow the left-most wall in the main chamber, and you will run into a chest. Keep following that same wall, and you will enter a chamber with a Wretch nest, a few Draugrs, as well as another chest glowing red (with some pretty valuable crafting ingredients inside). Go back to the main𒈔 chamber. You will have to fight a group of Skjalfa.

As you are traveling along this path you will see a legendary chest bathing in light. You can't get to it now, but don't worry, you will loot it before you leave this sinkhole.

Third Wretch Nest

God Of War Ragnarok, Lost Sanctuary Part 2, The Second Nest

Once you clear out the Skjalfa, take a right this time (if your back is facing the entrance, that is). You will hop over a short ledge with a torch to the right of it. Just head to the right the entire time. You will move down a dark hallway, hop up a few ledges, and fight a Draugr or two. Just keep going right until you enter a room with a giant green obstruction and a chest. Now, as is typical, shoot the glowing green obstruction with your sonic arrows. This opens up a path to the main chamber. You won't be able to open the chest until you destroy the Wretch nest up above. Climb the nearby ledges to the left (if you are facing the treasure chest) and the nest will be right there. Destroy the nest, then look to your left and shoot down the bucket. Now, jump down, take a left, and grab the treasure chest from before.

Once you clear out the third nest and jump down from the ledge, you will be facing a bridge, the treasure chest from before will be to your left, and there is a path to the right. If you take the right there is a treasure chest to be found, but its contents aren't the most glamorous. This is also where you pick up the shattered rune from the bucket you shot down.

Fourth Wretch Nest

God Of War Ragnarok, Lost Sanctuary Part 2, Shooting The Green Stone Through The Hole

When you clear the third nest out, you can hop down to the level below, and you will be facing a bridge. You want to cross this bridge. You will hop🃏 across a sm𓄧all gap and reach a chamber with a torch in need of lighting. To your left is another green obstruction, to the right is the main path. Shoot the obstruction with your sonic arrow to open up a pathway to the main chamber, then head to your right. You will light another torch. There is another fork in the road here; you want to take a left.

God Of War Ragnarok, Lost Sanctuary Part 2, The Golden Chest

The left path will take you to a legendary chest which will reward you with the "Runic Potency" accessory. Head back up, and face off against a Draugr looking to ambush you. Take them out and follow the wall on your left; this will take you back to the ༺main path. Now, you will enter into a little room with a hole in the wall; look through it, and you will see another green obstruction that needs to be shot. This will blow a hole in the wall of the chamber that you were just in (the one that followed the bridge). Go back there and clear out the final nest.

Once you have destroyed all the nests, head back to where you entered the sinkhole, and you will fight a Bergsra Mother. The Wretches she spawns are more obnoxious as you don’t have attacks that clear out groups quite as well as Kratos. Just keep racking up the headshots on the Bergsra, while keeping your distance,ꦛ and yo🍰u should be fine. Climb back up to the surface, and you will get a nice breather in the form of a linear narrative section. However, when a wolf gets nabbed, you will be jumping right back into the melee.

Free The Wolf From Gryla's Clutches

God Of War Ragnarok, The Lost Sanctuary, Shooting The First Log Obstruction

You are going to head straight down the path until you run into a gang of Skjalfa. Once you take them out, you will be faced with a giant log. Don't enter it yet. Instead, jump up to the left, and shoot the green obstruction with your sonic arrows. Then, enter the log, move through the hole you just made, climb up, look through another hole, and shoot another green stone. You will be able to move through the log now.

God Of War Ragnarok, The Lost Sanctuary, The Wulver After The Log

A Wulver will be waiting for you. They will be accompanied by more acid spitting Skjalfa, which can make this battle a little tougher than your first Wulver encounter. A good idea is to use your wolf form to take out the Skjalfa when they pop up,🦩 making it easier to keep your distance from the Wulver without getting ambushed.

God Of War Ragnarok, The Lost Sanctuary, Shooting Through The Cage To Clear The Obstruction

Just follow the main path from here. You will come across a red chest while following Angrboda (it is hard to miss). Once you reach the area around Gryla's home, you will need to climb up, and around. You will see a giant cage with a hole in it dangling from above. Fire an arrow through the hole and hit the green stone on the other side. This will drop the cage, helping Angrboda get up, she will clear the path for you to jump up to the surface above.

God Of War Ragnarok, The Lost Sanctuary, Gryla's Kitchen

Now, in the next area, instead of following Angrboda to the left, take a right. There is a treasure chest here. Now, go the way Angrboda went, and you will be in Gryla's massive kitchen. While your first instinct is going to be to explore, there really isn't anything here to find. Just follow Angrboda to the door and enter into the cellar.

God Of War Ragnarok, The Lost Sanctuary, In Gryla's Cellar Shooting The Barrel

Once you get into the cellar, shoot the barrel on your right, and then swing across the gap to get some Hacksilver. Head toward Angrboda. There is more Hacksilver hidden to the right in this room. There are also a bunch of breakable vases you can shoot for a little extra pocket change scattered all around the cellar. Head toward the lifeless snake, a brief cutscene will play out, and you will head back up to the main floor. After a wolf-sa𒁃ving act of bravery, you will now have to confront Gryla herself.

Boss Battle: Gryla

God Of War Ragnarok, The Lost Sanctuary, Gryla's Big Backhand

At the beginning of the battle, you will scurry behind the walls. There are no treasures to collect, just follow Angrboda, sneak into the Kitchen, and stab the bowl. You will get slapped, and the battle will start. Your goal here is to shoot the bowl when it is vulnerable. You will know when the bowl is vulnerable as the glowing rune on the front will be visible. Beyond that, just evade her attacks.

God Of War Ragnarok, The Lost Sanctuary, Gryla's Unblockable Projectile Attack

Gryla has a few ways of dealing damage. The first is her stomp attack. As long as you roll away when she gets close, you should be able to avoid this one. She also has an unblockable projectile, but it is pretty slow. And she has a parryable projectile, which is also relatively slow. Once you do enough damage to her bowl, she will fall to the ground. This is when the b☂owl is at its most𝔍 vulnerable.

God Of War Ragnarok, The Lost Sanctuary, The Floor Is Lava

Once you do enough damage, Gryla will start casting a spell that will make the ground pulse red. This is a sign that you need to change levels now. Hop up if you are on the ground, and jump down if you were on the counter. She will now have a new projectile which is slow moving, but will lock on and track you. Your best bet is to shoot the projectiles before they reach you. You can parry these fireballs, but will be staggered if you try to block them. She will also have her unblockable attack still, which is much﷽ harder to dodge as it is faster. She will also use it multiple times ꧋in quick succession.

God Of War Ragnarok, The Lost Sanctuary, Gryla Being Stunned By The Candle Light

You can now have Angrboda light candles, which will stun Gryla if she is near them. A big part of this battle is going to be luring her toward those candles. However, sometimes she will shuffle with her back to you, if she does that, don't instruct Angrboda to hit the candle until you get a better vantage point. Eventually, she will make the ground you are standing on pulse red, and it is time to change levels again. She should be close to death at this point, so just keep luring her toward the candles and shooting the bowl.

God Of War Ragnarok, The Lost Sanctuary, The Second Race

Now all that is left is for you to challenge Angrboda to one rematch, and race her home. You will watch a few cutscenes and then it will be back to a more familiar setting. Though, not necessarily a more welcoming one... Next: God Of War Ragnarok, Vanaheim's Southern Wilds Walkthrough
