The levels in GoldenEye are incredibly diverse, with stealth missions, action-packed marathons, and even hostage rescues. A great mission should be fun from start to finish, but solid level design also🅠 helps a lot. Some of the best levels jusꦜt look really cool and have a ton of detail poured into them.

10 Surface 2

Destroying a security camera in Surface 2 from GoldenEye 007.

In the original Surface, you didn't need to explore large parts of the map. The two cabins in the far northwest and the helicopter landing area didn't need to be explored at all. However, in Surface 2, you will need to explore most of it, at least on 00 Agent. On this difficulty, a new objective arises, and you need to destroy all surveillance equipment.

The cameras are scattered throughout the map, and you will need to comb throu༒gh most of it to proceed. It makes good use of the level, as many areas simply serve no purpose in Surface 1. Plus, the objective relating to the communications tower is much easi💖er to understand this time around.

9 Bunker 2

Throwing knifes quietly in the Bunker 2 level in GoldenEye 007.

Bunker 2 is probably the most special level in the game, as it's a straight-up stealth mission. You can go quiet on other levels, but triggering an alarm isn't that big of a deal. That's not the case in this mission.

If an alarm is triggered, enemies will spawn indefinitely until you eliminate the guards in the area where objective A is found. You must make use of the quiet throwing knives to dispatch the guards, or one-tap them with guns. Bunker 2 is a long mission with five total objectives, but it's very satisfying to stealth your way through it.

8 Silo

A scientist room from the Silo level in GoldenEye 007.

An action-packed ride, Silo is a blast. It's a linear mission with all the objectives placed in the scientists' rooms. This makes completing them very simple, as long as you remember where they are. In some of the other missions, like Caverns, the scientists can really get in your way when you blow up stuff for objectives, but thankfully that isn't an issue here.

Silo has a decent length and doesn't go on for too long, also like Caverns. It ends in a climactic chase with Ourumov, and blasting fools from start to finish makes Silo a highlight level.

7 Train

Natalya being held hostage in the Train level from GoldenEye 007.

Similar to Silo, Train is a completely linear level with you blasting baddies from start to finish. The level's a bit on the short side, but still plenty of fun. On your way to Natalya, you will have to shoot down all the brake units. One, in particular, doesn't face you head-on, so it can be easy it miss.

You will need to watch out for ene🏅mies as they can appear suddenly, and a couple will ev𓆉en come from behind you. This keeps the level engaging. The ending sequence with Natalya and the villains is a great climactic way to finish the mission and is akin to the source material.

6 Jungle

RCP-90 Equipped Goldeneye 007 Natalya in frame in Jungle level.

Jungle is another action mission, but it does have several qualities that make it stand out compared to others. One is that it is one of the most visually distinct missions in the game. The jungle and inside cave areas are pretty well done for a 1997 N64 game. The ꦉweaponry is also pretty good, with grenade launchers and assault rifles you can use.

Another big highlight of this level is that Natalya actually helps with killing the enemies. She wields a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Cougar Magnum, one of the be✤st weapons, and tears house with it. It's a shame you can't use it, at least without cheats, but it's still very helpful. Jungle is a bit too long, but overall it's an excellent level in the campaign.

5 Control

Goldeneye 007 Janus Control Room

A long marathon, Control is a tough mission but offers one of the biggest highlights in the campaign. Littered with guards and sneaky drone guns, you can take a lot of damage. However, Control does have a lot of body armor, even on 00 Agent. This makes it much fairer, and leads to a more enjoyable experience. The standout moment is the hold-the-line section with Natalya while she's reprogramming the satellite.

Enemies will come from all angles and can target you or Natalya. You must check your corners, but also pick up ammo when you can, as 00 Agent mode can make it easy to run out — leading to failure. It's a challenging but awesome segment, and you simply can't go wrong with a hold-the-line section in your game.

4 Cradle

Near the start of the Cradle level from GoldenEye 007.

The final mission of the core campaign, Cradle, is a solid finale. In what's essentially a final boss fight with Trevelyan, you must chase and blast at him while dealing with other enemies in pursuit. It has the balance of a tough-but-fair challenge, as even on 00 Agent you get two body armors.

After a while, Trevelyan will head down below for one final 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:battle in the same spot as the movie. A nice touch is that there's a special cutscene if Bond is the one to fall off the platform. Cradle is a short but fantastic way to end the campaign.

3 Aztec

The nice looking setting in Aztec from GoldenEye 007.

The two bonus missions in GoldenEye are a major highlight, and the first one you unlock is Aztec. Its visual design is standout, with it being very reminiscent of Moonraker. What's special about these bonus missions is that they break away from the core GoldenEye film and head into the larger James Bond canon. This makes the bonus levels more fun for the James Bond fans among you 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:who know the references.

Aztec is a hard level, though, with enemies wielding assault rifles and Moonraker lasers, some of the game's most deadly weapons. There will be a boss fight with Jaws, who dual-wields assault rifles, and he's a tough cookie. The mission is very cool with its nods to other Bond material, plus it's a satisfying challenge to overcome.

2 Egyptian

Fighting Baron Samedi in the Egyptian level from GoldenEye 007.

Egyptian isn't as brutally difficult as Aztec, but its visual design is probably the best in the game. So many areas of the map are visually distinct, like the water section and the final location where Baron Samedi spawns. That area has a giant obelisk in the center, and it looks really cool. An Egyptian setting always looks nice in a game, and this level is no different.

In terms of gameplay, you must collect the Golden Gun and kill Baron Samedi three times. To get the weapon, you have to move on the correct tiles, or else gun turrets will appear. It's trial and error, but the only real downside to this level. Egyptian is always a fun mission to replay, and one of the few you'll boot up simply to explore it.

1 Dam

The long bridge from the Dam level in GoldenEye 007.

The first level of GoldenEye is also its best. Dam could very well have been the vertical slice level to show off to people with its contents. At medium size, Dam is compact with a lot of attention to detail. There's a nice dock area that serves no gameplay purpose, but it matches the setting. Plus, there is the infamous mystery island that was supposed to be an objective, but was cut.

The shooting gameplay is great, and you must explore both land and the underground areas to clear all the objectives. Dam perfectly states what GoldenEye is about. Awesome gameplay with more to do than just shooting and 💟detailed maps that are better than any FPS consoജle game before.
