168澳洲幸运5开奖网:GoldenEye 007 is visibly a very old game. Its blocky enemies and odd hand shape when holding the pistol are clear signs when playing today. In 1997 it broke new ground for console FPS games and was 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:one of the best in the decade, but there are many aspects about it that simply don't make sense nowadays.

Perhaps nobody noticed back in the day, but compared to modern games, these elements stick out like a sore thumb. It can range from odd gameplay mechanics to weird character changes to even plain incorrect objective orders. There are quite a few elements that just don't make sense.

8 Guards Can't See

A guard from the Caverns level that can't see you in GoldenEye 007.

Throughout GoldenEye, a key part of defeating the enemies efficiently is getting the jump on them before they see you. There's one trick that is very useful but also doesn't make any sense. If a guard is in front of a railing or hole, and you're on the other side, they can't see or shoot you.

You should be in their line of sight, but those railings must have infinite height in terms of what the AI can see. This is very helpful for the more difficult levels later on, but it's still highly illogical.

7 One-☂Tapping In Stealth

About to one-tap an enemy guard in the head from GoldenEye 007.

There's several stealth missions throughout GoldenEye, and some, like Bunker 2, really force you to be quiet, or else you'll alert the whole Russian army after you. Naturally quiet weapons are preferred, like throwing knives or silenced weapons. However, you can stealthily use any weapon in the mission.

With an AK or any other non-silenced weapon, you can actually one-tap enemies in the head, and nobody will be alerted. If you blast more than one round in a row, then the enemy hordes will start coming after you. That just doesn't make any sense. You're still firing this loud weapon, but nobody noticed just because you only shot once.

6 💖 Ending Of Train

Natalya being held hostage in the Train level from GoldenEye 007.

The ending sequence of the Train level is pretty memorable. You have to rescue Natalya from the villains and make a desperate escape. The series of objectives, on the other hand, don't add up. After freeing Natalya, she will go to the keyboard to find out the location of Janus's secret base, and then afterward, she needs to crack Boris' password.

Hold on, why does she need to crack Boris' password now since she already found out the location of the base? Rare messed up here as it should be the other way around, like in the movie. This is one moment you might not have questioned back then, but nowadays, it's super noticeable.

5 ꧙ 🧔 Using The Watch

The watch menu in GoldenEye 007.

Bond's watch is an incredibly handy tool that not only can be used as a gadget for magnetizing items or shooting lasers but is a handy menu. You can look at your inventory, mission objectives, controls, change options, and exit the mission. One odd thing, though, is that the entire game seemingly freezes when you're in this watch menu.

Enemies can be blasting at you, and they just stop once Bond stares at his watch. However, one nice touch is that you can still get hit or killed during the transition between entering or exiting the menu. It's not a total time freeze once you press the menu button.

4 𝐆 Wron꧙g Gun Names

One cool aspect of modern games is the realism factor. In Call of Duty, the weapons are very realistically modeled and have accurate names. However, in GoldenEye, this simply doesn't apply. Most people know James Bond's trademark weapon, the Walther PPK, but in GoldenEye, it's called the PP7.

One of the most recognizable firearms ever is the AK-47, but in GoldenEye, it's called the KF7 Soviet. That sounds straight-up like a bootleg name. These changes were likely due to licensing, but it still feels off. GoldenEye still 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:has an awesome arsenal of weapons, but these name changes don't make much sense in the modern gaming landscape, where most titles have accurate gun names.

3 ꧃ Everything Explodes ℱ

A whole table exploding into pieces from GoldenEye 007.

One striking element in GoldenEye that's still neat to this day is the destructibility. Almost everything in this game explodes, including lab terminals, tables, bookcases, file cabinets, crates, and even small car and plane models.

It can even start a chain reaction where one explosion can lead to several more, adding up to one that's huge. Looking at it seriously, it's completely ridiculous. Somehow the bookcases or small vehicle modules just have the properties to explode in the first place. The James Bond universe can be pretty wacky, but not this wacky.

2 Oddjob

Pointing a gun at OddJob in GoldenEye 007

The multiplayer in GoldenEye is probably the most iconic and most played section of the game. Playing with four people was an absolute blast, but there's an aspect about one of the unlockable characters that not only doesn't make sense but makes using him essentially cheating. Oddjob is one of the more famous villains in the entire Bond series, appearing in the movie Goldfinger.

Playing with him, you'll notice he's very short and actually the shortest character in the game. This would 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:be a nice reference if it matched his appearance in the movie. Oddjob's original actor, the late pro wrestler Harold Sakata, isn't short at all. He's at an average height, so this makes no sense for the developers to make him that short.

1 😼 Bomb Defuser In Frigate

Using the bomb defuser in the wrong way from GoldenEye 007.

Frigate is one of the more infamous levels in GoldenEye, at least in the speedrunning community, due to its luck factor. On Secret and 00 Agent, you must defuse two bombs on the ship. You use the bomb defuser gadget to do so, but you should watch out. If you go up to a bomb and press the fire button with the device, you'll defuse it with no problem.

If you press the action button, which many people will also likely do, the bomb will go off and probably kill you. How does this make any sense? You might assume the opposite, and pressing fire would detonate the explosive since it is the literal fire button. This is a total beginner's trap and isn't even logical.
