GameTomo’s upcoming narrative adventure game, Sumire, will be hitting the Nintendo Switch!
—also known as Sumire no Sora, or Sumire’s Sky—follows the titular character as she journeys through a mystical Japanese village and completes tasks given to her by her mischievous mountain spirit companion. Sounds idyllic, right? Well, there's a catch: the entire game takes🎐 place over the course of a single day, and Sumire has until thღe sun sets to finish her tasks before the village becomes forever inaccessible to her. Talk about a time crunch!
The game describes itself as a narrative-driven quest adventure and based on what little promotional information GameTomo has put out, that just🌌 about sums it up. In addition to the tasks given to her by the mountain spirit, Sumire can accept quests from village residents, forest creatures, and even come up with her own objectives as she goes through her day.
Players will have the choice to reject tasks if they so wish, but the village and its people will change as time passes, so players will need to be considerate of their time while accepting and completing requests. No matter what Sumire is doing, however, the day will end once the sun sets and the sky turns violet. Refusing a quest may mean you won’t be able to acquire it again—u💎ntil another playthrough, that is.
Thus far, Sumire looks to be a beautifully atmospheric game. It boasts a gorgeous painted art style reminiscent of children’s books, and even comes with the accomp༺anying whimsical fantasy creatures one would expect from the genre. GameToto’s website has shared screenshots of some of Sumire’s environments: its dreamy art style lends a great deal of gravity to the village’s shrine and forest scenery, making it a delight to look at. There’s no doubt that Sumire will be a worthy addition to any story-loving gamer’s library.
At this time, there is no concrete release date for either the PC or Switch versions of the game. GameTomo announced Sumire alongside another title, Nimbus Infinity, during Indie Live Expo 2020. Unlike Sumire, Nimbus Infinity is a high-speed action mecha game and the next installment🐟 in the Project Nimbus series. A release date has yet to be con🔯firmed, but the game will be coming to Steam and some console platforms, though developers haven't specified which ones.
