Today's PlayStation Showcase gave us the first look at Grand Theft Auto 5 and GTA Online running on PlayStation 5. We also finally have a release date for both titles: March 2022.
You can watch the trailer for yourself below.
The reception to the trailer is mixed, to say the least. On YouTube, it sits at 3000 likes vs 1800 dislikes at the time of writing. Many in the comments appear to be frustrated with the graphics and overall lack𓆏 of new features. Some call it a "cash grab", and demand more news on GTA 6.
For those of you keeping track at home, this is indeed a rerelease of a rerelease. Grand Theft Auto 5 first made its way to PS3 and Xbox 360, before getting ported to next-gen consoles. With itsꦡ launch window of March 2022, that puts it almost a decade after the fi💛rst release in 2013.
At the very least, it's unlikely that this is the only news to keep GTA fans going until the sixth instalment. Rumours have been bubbling for a while that Rockstar is working on a remastered trilogy of the PS2-era titles, which may be announced after GTA 5's re-relaunch next March.
Grand Theft Auto 5 and GTA Online are coming to both PS5 and Xbox Series X/✨S next 💝March.
