Many rumors have been swirling that Grand Theft Auto VI is in development, which would make sense. Grand Theft Auto IV released in 2008, followed by Red Dead Redemption's 2010 release. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Grand Theft Auto V saw an initial 2013 release on last-gen consoles with later releases on current-gen systems and PC. Then, 2018 saw the release of Red Dead Redemption 2. As such, despite additional rumors of a new game in development, Rockstar's next effort could logically be Grand Theft Auto VI. And, i🙈f it is, it ought to make the series👍 grow up.

The Humor of GTA

The 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Grand Theft Auto games have always had an inherent sense of humor. Even in the first games, there's something disturbingly comical about forcing an innocent civilianᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚ out of their vehicle. This would be shortly followed by chaotically wreaking havoc upon the citizens of Liberty City, San Andreas, Vice City, or what have you. Further, the games' narratives often contain a host of lunatics and wacky characters that offer funny dialogue but it often simply just makes the characters appear dim-witted.

Frankly, this is fairly immature, especially now that we're upon the sixth core entry in the series. Whatever satire is trying to be accomplished by Rockstar simply ꧙hasn't held the test of time, often breaking the𝔍 suspension of disbelief.

The Series Should Have Something To Say

Additionally, Rockstar's sense of humor within the GTA games and lack of maturity doesn't hold as much water these days. In a political culture that is often divisive and needs prevalent voices to speak out, Grand Theft Auto VI would be the perfect opportunity for the developer to show that it's capable of making a game with a significant theme.

There are a few examples that have done this well so far. Watch Dogs and Mafia III are certainly among them. The former warns players of the danger of rapid technological advancements and keeps them aware of how individuals without goꩲod intentions could manipulate them to their criminal activities. Meanwhile, the latter is effective at providing players with an authentic vibe of discrimination in the 60s, some of which has continued to this day. Both are open-world games where you commit (many) acts of crime but are contextually important and have a sense of humor.

Red Dead Redemption II even offers players a glimpse at Rockstar's capability of writing a mature open-world game. It does adhere strictly to the often-used Rockstar formula of a character trying to redeem themselves despite continually performing criminal acts against their better jud💯gment. However, the writing is magnificent, has a sense of humor, and speaks out against societal ills like racism and corporate greed.

The Writers Must Expand Their Mindsets

Regardless of Red Dead Redemption 2's fantastic narrative, it does lack the shock value seen in the Grand Theft Auto games of yore. What was once industry-changing in trivializing the idea of crime and violence in video games has become overused. To bring back the shock value, the writers at Rockstar need to expand their mindset beyond character redemption and chasing after scores of money. In a sense, the writing lacks the interest it needs to captivꦓate its fans outside of other specific story elements.

If the writing does go for "shock," then the writers might want to have important themes in mind. Perhaps it could expand on Red Dead Redemption 2's touched-on corporate greed or tell a specific tale on income inequality. By doing this, Rockstar could illustrate the staggering disparity between the rich and poor. There are a number of economic and social issues that have yet to be truly captured in a video game, and Grand Theft Auto VI could be Rockstar's way to do it.

The Grand Theft Auto games are, and have always been, sheer fun. While gameplay elements of the older titles haven't aged too gracefully, new titles have va꧂stly improved on their quality. Moreover, the presentation and environment is engaging in a way few other games are. Rockstar seems to have a ton of game design components down to a science, but if it wants to hit a homerun next time, it has to grow up and make a statement.
