Top laner Park “Untara” Ui-jin, mid laner Son “Ucal” Woo-hy𝐆eon, and AD carry Park “Viper” Do-hyeon were removed from the active roster after a subpar LCK Spring Split.
Once one of Korea’s best teams, Griffin has now undergone a roster overhaul after a disappointing LCK Spring Split. AD carry Park “Viper” Do-hyeon first joined the team in 2017, eventually placing second in three straight LCK Splits during his tenure with the organization. Top laner Park “Untara” Ui-jin and mid laner Son “Ucal” Woo-hyeon joined the squad in December 2019 and January 2020, respectively, playing o🌱nly o༺ne Split under the Griffin banner.
After three consecutive domestic second-placings and a quarter-final finish at the 2019 World Championship, Griffin were expe༒cted to con🤪tinue their rise into 2020. The team struggled throughout the Spring season, managing only a handful of wins over teams such as APK Prince, Hanwha Life Esports, and DAMWON Gaming. Griffin finished the regular LCK season in last place and were relegated from the league.
Griffin were unable to regain their spot in the league after finishing fourth in LCK Promoti💛on. The team has now been sent to Challengers Korea, the next se𓄧ason of which will begin sometime this summer. Future plans for Viper, Ucal, and Untara are currently unknown.
